"Moving images can never be this potent."
I have to disagree with that statement. I saw the images of the prisoners and I was appalled. However, I could not force myself to watch the video of a prisoner having his head cut off. THAT was too potent for me. I'm not trying to make a political statement here - just addressing the potency of moving images vs. still.

I have to admit to downloading photos in the past. Some that I thought were great pictures, and some that I wanted to share with my husband who isn't a member of Photo.net. I never considered using those pictures in any way . . . neither as wallpaper or for print. I viewed them and shared them and soon after deleted them. And when I downloaded them I used the artist's title of the piece and his/her name as the title so that those. I was new to photo.net at the time and have since learned better ways to navigate to those pictures, such as "Mark this person as interesting".

Sounds as if you are saying that a photographer who does not develop his own film is not quite a "real" photographer. I know one professional who makes his living solely from sales of his pictures would take exception with that thought.
