  1. I've had a chance to use Mr. Yes several times, primarily because DAG never responded to my inquiries. I am not kidding. I 've called and emailed this person with requests for camera and lens work but he never bothered to reply. Sherry Krauter did reply to one of my requests for lens-repair (but many other inquires from the past went on unanswered) yet she wanted me to pay up-front so she can check the lens. It was not a small sum either and I found that to be odd so I asked Youxin for help. After describing the problem to him, he actually provided me with a solution and explained how I can fix it myself (it was an easy fix in the end). Mr. Ye, is very responsive, and even though he may be self-taught I wouldn't call him amateurish (as some describe him in the posts above). If he can't do it or doesn't know how to do it, he'll refer you elsewhere. So feel free to reach out to him and see how it goes.
  2. Arthur, there was a UV filter, but it's always on my Summilux lens. It was an overcast day, the shot was done indoors, I think at 1/15 or 1/30 of a second, hand held. Velvia is very tricky if it's incorrectly exposed. I think this image was underexposed in the end but it has a sentimental value for me and I decided to keep it.
  3. I have red somewhere that Leica has indeed made M film-camera(s) from Titanium for some very rich client (I believe somewhere from the Gulf region of the Middle East). Titanium was harder to work with than brass and Aluminum and it required special tooling. Aside from the body, lenses were also made out of Titanium for this customer. All in all, one of a kind, kind of deal. I wonder how much it cost...

Some old film, recently developed. Loring park, Minneapolis, MN, US, this past winter. The park-pond was frozen solid. It's strange to look at this image as we speak as the temperatures are near 40 Celsius right now in the Twin Cities (MP, 35 mm 'cron, HP5).

  5. A couple of months ago one silver M7 0.72 came up for sale at my local camera shop. It was slightly used in nearly mint condition, price was better than anything eBay. I was short of money and decided to pass. Now I regret my decision but then again as I am aging I am really looking fro one with 0.58 RF magnification.
