  1. OK, so I never knew that leaving batteries in a flash was bad. Now

there is some serious corrosion on the contacts, and I brushed it off

and put a small amount of vinegar on the contacts, and now it looks

corrosion-free, but the flash still dosn't work. Any suggestions?

    Canon 420ex.

  2. I'm wondering, since Photo.net only accepts gif format images (or

does it?), when in photoshop I'm working with .psd with layers and

what not, and I go to save for web, the images becomes optimized,

always to my dismay, in that the optimized image isn't the same, but

is pixilated, unsaturated, and gray and what not. What can I do about

    this please help!

  3. I own a Bogen 3030/a from the 70s, and love it. However, its about 20

lbs, and I can't exactly take it backpacking on long trips. I'm

looking for something sturdy enough to handle a Canon 300mm lens, and

be able to do long exposures (more than a minute), and be suitable

    for backpacking...any suggestions?

  4. This woman wants me to take pictures of her for Valentines day. I'm

going to shoot her with a D Rebel, she works at Kinkos and wants the

digital negatives to print out at Kinkos. My friends tell me I need

a Photo Release or something, so the negatives still belong to me

and she has the rights to use them. Does anyone have one of these I

    can use??

  5. I've heard that the 300d has a stiff infrared blocker before the

CCD. Would using a infared filter and exposing for long times,

(long enough to see results) damage the CCD, as it wasn't

    meant for this purpose?

  6. I'm considering purchasing a camera with a higher resolution, and

obviously, larger files 1 meg files to 7 meg files. This means I

will go from being able to shoot 650 images (with my current CF

status) to less than 100. While traveling, this can be restricting.

It seems that CF cards are rather expensive these days, and I was

wondering if anyone has heard of a portable hard drive or something

that you can beam images up to from a USB cable without using a

    computer?

  7. I'm pretty sure I'm going to purchase the d rebel. Has anyone done

any exposures with the 300d longer than a few minutes? How does it

work with the remote? Do you have to hold down a button or set a time

or what? Also, how fast is the transition between shooting mode and

viewing mode. I have a canon a40 and I've heard the the d rebel

dosn't have a review option, so my concern is how fast i will be able

to review the image, and correct the exposure or composition, because

when my CF card gets full on the A40, it takes up to 10 seconds to go

to the viewing mode to study the image on the LCD.

  8. I have paid for another 250 block of storage on p.net, and the

transaction went though with my bank, but for some reason the quota

still stands at 200 pictures, even though I paid for more. I can't

find a contact that will respond to my emails, can anyone help me

    out?

  9. Does anyone know how auto focus allows almost infinite depth of field

on most shots from point and shoot digital cameras? Also with regular

point and shoot film cameras, most people's images come out with

everything in focus...how does this work - it seems if it is anything

like a real camera, there would be substantial DOF in every shot...

    I'm confused...

  10. Damn....I was thinking a little bit too hard I guess. However, do you think that when you exposure for a long time on digital the image is being recorded infintely fast? I understand with film, when you expose the FILM, but since digital is so wacky, I don't really get it. I'm sure the dots were from the lights frequency though, thanks for pointing something out so obvious.
  11. I'll try harder this time :) OK, when I took a 2 second exposure of some lights on a bridge, and moved my camera fast, instead of getting a blur, like I would have on film, I had dots, as if the camera was recording at a certain frame/second. If I counted the dots, I bet I could figure it out, but I'm not sure if that was what was going on. - Is this more clear?
  12. I've shot some time lapse pictures stationary lights at night on my

Canon A40. If I move my camera quickly while taking a picture of a

stationary light, on the final image I will see dots where the CCD

was recording images at a certain rate per second? Is this how it

works? If so, do DSLR's record at a faster rate?

If the camera does record a certain ammount of frames per second -

say I take a picture on Auto mode and, could/does the camera take a

few differnt exposures to account for different lighting, and then

compile the image on the camera? If this would work, then hard

lighting situations could be made easier...Does anyone follow this?
