Please comment; what's good? What needs improvement?

Please critique - what's good; what could use improvement?

Here is a re-work of the sepia toned image - I removed the sepia filter and
went for a higher contrast in this image. Let me know what you think,
please.

Please give me a flat out honest critique and rating on this photo, I
am trying to improve my techniques. Your help is appreciated.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have followed your suggestions and tweaked the levels around in order to bring the the contrast into the image. I tried doing a sharpen on it, but since it was cropped from the original image which was not well composed, then enlarged, if I go much further with enlargement or sharpening, the edges pixelate noticably at this magnification. Though I think what I've done thus far is along the lines of your suggestions.

Tell me what you think of the handling of the subject, the digital
darkroom work and any other constructive comments you may have.
This one was made in the digital darkroom as the original was in
color and was not cropped nearly this tightly. Thanks for your time.

Please review the image and give me your thoughts. This photo came
out of the digital darkroom, the original lacked the character of
this print. What do you think of it? Please be as honest as you
can.

In a way this was a set shot as it was taken at Colonial
Williamsburg, VA. I tried to capture the essence of what it was
like in that day, with the windmill structure and the grazing sheep
on the green.
-
I tried for a candid shot of a re-inactor at the Colonial
Williamsburg historical village. I stayed a distance away and used
a 200mm lens to catch this candid shot.

First I'd like to say this is a wonderful photograph, and I gave it a 7/7!
If I might ask, I've been looking to create an IR image using my Canon 10D. Can you email me and give me some pointers which buttons to push and levers to throw in Photoshop to achieve this? kc0tlv@furville.com
Thanks

I really like what you have done here. I was visiting the MFA in Boston yesterday viewing some hand colored photographic images of Japan from the turn of the century, and your picture is very reminiscent of these, the way you have processed the image. Good job! 7/7

Taken of a captive macaw in an improvised studio setting at a zoo's
education department.

Thank you, your comments are appreciated.

You've got the framing dead on with this one. The use of the high contrast is very interesting,

Thank you for the compliments.

I'm venturing into a new area with my work, finding run down places,
be they factories, old roadside motels or what-have-you and trying
to take photographs that speak not only to their current condition,
but also to showing what was once there. This is a sign from a
roadside motel outside of Ayer, MA. I intend on doing some more
work at the site. It seemed to me that it needed to be
photographed. I'll have a couple more images that were taken today
available soon. Let me know what you think of this.

Thank you for the compliments on this photograph. This is the image before photoshop. I saved this one in the digital darkroom.
At the viewing area of this cat enclosure there is a huge piece of glass. It was an overcast day and I'd forgot my polarizing filter. So the resulting pre-processed image looked like it was taken in smoke. I used photoshop to eliminate this haze / glare from the glass by using the equalize function which threw the image too green, then color corrected the result to produce the final image you see here.

Fantastic tiger photo - just fantastic! What else needs to be said? 7/7!!!!
-
This is exactly what I was seeing the final image looking like. The final crop works here as it accentuates the subject of the image and takes away the distractions. Good Job. Play with your depth of field more to throw backgrounds of portrait shots out of focus to further make the subject stand out, not necessarily for this image, but in general.

Damion: I'll do a little tweaking and cropping in Photoshop to see if I can bring out the best in this one. Thanks :)
-
I really like this image. You got this one spot on. 7/7

I purposely made the image dark around the bottom to offset the lightness at the top. However yes I can see that the bottom of the cougars paw is a bit too dark. I had to play with the image in Pshop to correct some glare off the glass front of it's enclosure.

Please let me know what is good, what needs improvement, and what should have
been left out of this image. Thanks
