I am in need of a new Coolpix. I am considering the 4300, as I have
heard it does a decent job of Infrared. I have a Tiffen 87 filer and
a Hoya r72 filter, and have not been able to use them with my junk
Canon A70. The hotmirror is too much, and the images noisy like a
circus, and no focus.
The Coolpix 775 did an okay job, but I had to return it to the Ebay
store due to it having 60+ blown pixels.
So, I am as I said interested in the 4300, BUT, I've been told that
since I do a lot of macro, and hate noise, the 4500 or the 5400 are
much superiour cameras. BUT, I am told they do not do well with
Infrared. OR...should I just get a used 950, and then save for an
upgrade to the above in a couple months?
Any opinions and advise would be helpful...and I will be mainly using
the R72 filter.

I am interested in what is the best filter to use for
nature/landscape to give a dreamy glow to it, while keeping the
focus.
I have an on line friend who does this very well, but can't get an
answer as to what filter she uses...but her photos are not
Photoshopped, and have a dreamy glow, almost infrared like, but
subtle and the focus is still on. Images of trees, fields, etc...
What filters would be good for this? And is there such a thing as a
soft effect lens?

I myself really want this very same lens....I could afford the similar Sigma but the Nikon is much better. I don't know what *kind* of macro you do...but the below website...has some AMAZING work...just to show the capabilaty of the lens.
