<p>Thank you both for your response. I had previously done my own Google search and found many links but wanted to be sure about my Contax 167mt lenses as adapted to a Sony Alpha Nex. It's easy to take a wrong turn with the different generations of Zeiss lenses.<br>
The Contax 167mt was released in 1986 and does indeed fall under the Contax/Yashica (C/Y) umbrella. However, under this same C/Y umbrella are later generation Contax cameras such as the RX series and the Aria. Do all of these models have the same Zeiss lens mount? I thought there might be differences so I was wondering if my desired specs go beyond a generic C/Y lens adapter for the Sony Nex. I'm still not very clear on that.<br>
My two key lenses are the Zeiss Planar 1.4/50 T*, serial number 6749775 and the Zeiss Distagon 2.8/28 T*, serial number 7300282. These are bayonet mount lenses.<br>
As a follow up question to the C/Y adapter fitting the bill here is anyone's experience with going this route. I look at the solution as a patch to leverage old lenses I love and try out a new platform. That said, I am demanding and want good results. I don't mind the manual focus, I've been doing that for years, but what about other shortcomings? On one adapter website I saw the following caveat:<br>
"Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm, auto-focusing, or any other functions will not operate correctly while using this adapter."<br>
I guess I am just asking about real world experience from trusted Photonet professionals. Hopefully this thread will help many people in the future.</p>

Eyesight & the OLED Viewfinder
in Casual Photo Conversations
Posted
I feel I should know this, but I can't quite
get my head around it. I purchased a
new Sony Nex 7 that has a beautiful OLED
viewfinder. So far so good.
Later this month I will be having cataract
surgery and I will no longer need glasses to
see distance although I will need them to
see close up.
After this surgery, when I am looking
through an OLED viewfinder, am I looking
at an optical image representation that is
depicted clearly for someone with good
near vision or good far vision? I'm
assuming no diopter adjustment. With my
old SLR this was a no brainier. Optical
electronic questions fry my brain. I believe the answer is that good no diopter adjustment close vision is desirable, but my follow up question would be what effective "distance" would this be?
I need to know this as there might be slight
surgical adjustments that can be performed
to make my photographic experience
better. Tinkering can be done with a persin's "dominant viewfinder eye," etc .
Thanks forum for any help you can provide.
