Just my 2pence about the white balance.. If you use Nikon Viewer (software supplied with the camera) you'll be able to see all the settings you used at the time of exposure, like ISO, camera mode, aperture, file size, metering, WB, etc. It often helps to realize what you possibly did wrong, or the opposite - the perfect settings for some situation.
Good luck !

Ramon, this picture is not overexposed, it's not underexposed, nothing should be removed from it ! It is what it is !
I think if great artists would have taken all the advices from 'art experts' they would never have produced no extraordinary works..
d200 w/sb-800 flash fires without shutter being pressed

Hello,
I had exactly the same problem.
SB-800 randomly flashes when attached to the camera (D200). No problems if used remotely. I finally found out the problem is in the hotshoe of the camera.
When shooting a lot with the flash attached to it, the hotshoe gets deformed I believe due to the poor quality of the metal the hotshoe is made of. ( Metal is too soft to handle the weight of the SB-800 when moved around intensively) I could even feel the flash unit dangling when lifting it or tilting or turning sideways.
What I did, I used simple pliers to slightly squeeze the hotshoe from both sides. This made the flash sit quite tight while attached, and all the random firings are gone. I am almost positive this will come back again after a while of usage, but at least I know where the problem lies.
( Hello Nikon Corp. Make some conclusions!!! )
