I was trying to get the most height off this jump and selected f/2.8
to try to minimize the distracting background.

Next time I'm roaming a dark social club looking for candids I'll ask people to hold the pose while I set up my studio lights and take some meter readings....
Also, the girls were a little pale (they have reddish hair), and if I cropped any tighter I'd be cutting out the girls.
-
The two young women are looking a photo of a young man that was a
victim of the 9/11 attack. They appear to be about the same age and
wonder if they may have known each other.
-
I thought the title of the photo was adequate in this circumstance.
-
Just a snap of a rainbow across the street from my house.
-
A candid shot at a recent Bat Mitzvah I shot. All of the girls were
so involved that they didn't even notice me.

The birds in the trees appear to be another type of bird, perhaps crows.
The flying birds are cormorants, not ducks, and they do sit in trees. Their feathers are not waterproof like a duck's (even though they dive underwater) and they can often be seen with their wings spread, sitting in a tree, dock or piling, drying their wings.

I tried to capture the energy of 40 12-14 year old girls dancing.

Your panoramic shots are fantastic!

The couple suggested this shot - I was suprised the bride would lie
on the grass.

I was looking through old photos and came across this one. It turned
out nicer than I had first thought.

Please critique from a photojournalistic point of view. This image
shows the unfortunate Pit Bull and lots of firepower. There were
still 2 more dogs loose. More photos in my portfolio.
-
This was indeed a response to Pit Bulls. I have a folder titled "Incident in Everett" that has more photos from the ordeal - http://www.photo.net/photodb/presentation.tcl?presentation_id=77210. I started shooting and one of the Detectives who had been taking photos stopped and asked if I could give him copies of mine. I burned a CD the next day and gave it to the police.

Please critique as a photojournalistic effort. This happened at work
one day. The canteen truck driver wouldn't get out of the truck with
the dog roaming around. By the time I took this picture, one pitbull
was dead, one was still on the loose and a third was still in its'
fenced area.

Tried to get a tunnel effect, cropping out as much of the foreground
as I could. The suspended sculptures were very brightly colored and
the window at the end enhances the image.

I think it would have been better shot horizontally. The runners are out of or too near the edges.
-
This shot was a handheld grab while touring this historic mansion.

I used the stitching software Canon supplies with the D30. I think it is very important that the camera was on a tripod with a pan head so it stayed on the same plane as it took each shot. The image is about a 120 degree view. Also, the exposure was set and remained unchanged to avoid bright and dark images. (I printed an 8" x 32" version that is very nice).

Sorry if the image is too large
