Hi Kari,
Thank's for your message,
I wish I could buy both, I'd like to have a powerful compact that I can keep with me most of the time without all the extras of my old DSLR but it's good to have the full control of a DSLR.
Don't need video so 1000D, 450D and 500 I guess, but which one? I'm on budget as well so I was thinking G10 cause it's cheaper but I don't want to lose out on performance.

Hi Everyone,
My EOS 300D has finally given up its will to shoot after 5 years of hard knocks and drops, it's really done me proud. So I'm in the market for a new camera! not too sure what I should go for though?
Usage - Mainly point and shoot family shots, then on the off chance I'll be doing a little sports and landscape work. I've got some lenses, the Canon 50mm, 70-210mm and Tamron EF Zoom which gets the most use.
What should I do, go for another EOS body maybe the 1000d or 450D, or maybe the G10 which I quite like the look of? Need to get back into photography and make more time for something I really enjoy doing. You're input will be much appreciated.
Thanks to you all,
Some real interesting points, especially the 50D :)
The truth is I would like something new and a bit faster than what i'm using, Rainer T asks the question "Do you need that?" Well if it's faster and an more responsive than what i'm currently using then yes i could really do with that. But then if the 30D's replacement is not too far down the line I may as well hold on for a bit longer.
With regards to the 400D I've never really thought about it so I'm gonna try it out tommorow as well as the 30D and see how I go,
thanks again cause you've all been real helpful about this. Have a good weekend, Amit

Hi, I've looked through a lot of posts covering this but still need some help,
I'm thinking about upgrading my camera body, I started out using the 35mm EOS
300 and then upgraded to the 300D which I have had for about 2 years now. I'm
studying at college at the moment and am learning a lot more about photography.
I would love to purchase the 5D but just can't afford to, so next on the list
is a 30D which I can pick up for about ?620 here in the UK. I've got a couple
of Canon lenses - 50mm f/1.8 MKII, 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5 USM and a Tamron f/2.8 28-
75mm which I am happy with. The area of work will be Fashion and Portraiture
including studio work.
I've heard lots of speculation about the 40D, which would be ideal espcially if
it had 10+mp and integrated sensor cleaning. I've done some fishing around and
a post today from J. Harrington confirms no news from the PMA either.
So the question is should I go for the 30D now or wait until later on this
year?
thanks in advance

Hi Rob,
I've got the same problem, i'm in the UK and it's hard to find one in a local store. Price is 350 GBP however it can be picked up online for 250, the problem is getting a bad copy. Question - If your not happy with it can you send it straight off to Tamron for recalibration? Will that sort the QC issues? If so why not take pot luck - if it's not good just send it off? - Maybe i should take some of my own advise and take the chance!

Thanks to all of you for your help on this post!
The Tamron 28-75 f2.8 has been a hot topic of suggestion Im going to try one out this weekend the 17-50 f2.8 version sounds good, but for what I want the focal range of the 28-75 will be more suited.
While Im there Ill try out the Canon 28-105 f3.5-4.5 USM as well as the Canon 28-135 f3.5-5.6 IS USM
The Sigma lens mentioned doesnt cover the range I would like but thanks for your suggestion, the post about primes is a plus and has been overlooked but Ill bear it mind
By the way post for CI P, I would like the one on the right, just not got enough paper for it yet, maybe one day!
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge - Much Appreciated! -
Ill let you know how I get on at the moment the Tamron seems to have taken my fancy :D

I need help!
Hi, I have a Canon 300D lens kit, the other lenses I use along side this are
the 50mm f1.8 II and a 70-210 3.5 4.5 USM.
I love shooting and always have, but recently Ive taken the art a little more
seriously and would like to make some money from it. I enjoy taking
photographs of people and would like get into fashion photography maybe even
weddings. Anyway the lens kit 1855mm f3.5-5.6 performs well outdoors and
where light is available, but in lower light conditions it does not seem to
function very well, especially when AF in turned on.
Ive read reviews on the Canon EF24-70mm f2.8 L USM all of which rate it
with very high marks, unfortunately Ive not got that kind of money to play
with - more like 350 and thats pushing it. A few people have told me to
stick with canon lenses due to compatibility and performance issues, but Im
open to your suggestions and am more than happy to experiment with a third
party lens.
In a nutshell I need a fast walk around zoom lens for mainly portraiture work.
Thanks

Christof - your right i would like a Macro Lens but i do need to wait a while and save up!!. and the firmware hack - sounds good Robin's confirmed that(thanks i'll be looking into it)- and it's cool i won't tell Canon you told me :)

After a lot of thought i think! i'm going for the Eos 300D instead
of the 10D, mainly down to two factors
1.the extra money
2.Don't think i'll really be using the extra features on the 10D
the next problem is - that i've got the 50mm 1.8 canon lens and a
70mm-210mm 3.5-4.5 lens and wanted somthing in between. the 300d
come with the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 DC Lens. But what i'm thinking
is instead of getting the kit, is to go for the body and buy a
seperate lens. the one i've seen and like is the EF 28-135mm 3.5-
5.6 IS USM.
What do you think?
thanks

thanks a lot guys, you know when you really want something, somtimes you don't really think it through, and just buy it! well i'm glad i've not done so, yet anyway
I've contacted 7dayshop via email on details brought up, i'll let you know how i get on
just one question for Panos. you mentioned my lenses will have a differnet field-of-view? could you explain a bit more?
Thanks Again

Hi
I've been using a Canon Eos 300 35mm camera for about 2 years now
and it's been a great camera
looking to updrade to the 300d, looking at body only, i've got a
1.8 50mm and an old 70-210mm 3.5/4.5 usm both ef lenses.
Read a lot about the comparrison on between the 10d VS 300d
7dayshop.com have dropped the price on this a few times this last
month and are now doing it for ?529.00
The price is cheap in comparrison to anyone else, i buy all my film
from them and they are very reliable
i would appreicate any advise on the camera before i buy?
what do you think to the price?
thanks in advance

Appreciate all your feedback, I knocked the G10 on the head was looking at the 1000D or 400D. Mentioned it to friend that I'm in the market and he's given me an offer on a 450D/XSI that I can't refuse. Hopefully getting it this weekend.

Thanks again, should be posting soon.
Take care
