Good choice in B+W here. I agree with a previous poster that maybe you could crop out the bottom left puddle. See what that looks like it may or may not be an improvement.

    Hi Meg,

I would suggest laying off the saturation a bit, leveling the horizon and next time recompose so the horizon isn't cutting through his head. Also, since his is looking left try placing him on the right third of the image. Might be tough to recompose that one though.

Hi Jeremey. You've captured a good expression here. Two suggestions are the face does not look as sharp as it probably could be and I'd try to avoid the eyeglass shadow under his left eye as it distracts. Nice work.

Michael and Emily thanks for your comments. I agree with you on the crop, should have thought of that prior. The photo is natural light from a window to the right of the image. I think the 40D did a good job with the range of light.

Nice lighting and good eye contact. One little suggestion would be to use a reflector to bounce a bit more light onto her face and eyes. I've got a reflector request in for a Christmas present myself. Good shot.

Hello, looking for suggestions for improvement on this photo. Do you think it needs more

contrast? What about the pose, lighting, and composition? Your feedback is appreciated.

    Regards, Nik

Good shot. Goot color. Nice and sharp. One thing to fix are the blown out highlights in the background. For portraits it's wise to look out for distracting elements in the background.

The expression is nice. I would try to sharpen the photo a bit and increase the contrast a little as well. Also, a reflector bouncing light onto her face would brighten the eyes.

I agree with the previous poster. Crop out the foreground and go for more of a square composition to emphasize the tunnel-like view. Good shot overall and B+W is a good choice.

Nice action shot and good job leaving some room in the picture for the deer to bound into. I'd try a faster shutter speed next time to get a sharper image.

You've captured great color in the canyon. Personally, I think the foreground detracts from the picture. I would have tried to find a shot from near the edge and would have also tried to avoid the tree. Good picture as is though.
