I looked today, but couldn'd find any direct answers.

Help ! I'm looking for hosting that offers a general photography website , that a " Dummy " can create. I don't

have any knowledge of coding or building a site, myself. I don't want to buy programs that I don't understand : and or

are expensive. I was recently, scammed and paid over a thousand dollars, with no completion of work. The pesrson, I

used, disappeared. I was " Suckered ". But, I still want to get something out there. What can I do and what does

anyone recomend ? Please, any advice is helpful. I need extra income and the " Economy " has, reallly effected

me. I need to get started. I know a website is one the first things to build on. Help ?

Thank you Jeffrey Lee, Mike Nikolic, and Matt Laur for explaining the process to me. I am " Mentally Challenged " , sometimes. LOL. I thought that " Photo.net " did have " Staff " that rated Images. My bad. I understand the process, Now. But when I meant " Encouragemnet " : It is not " Fluffed up Compliments ". Like you, " Mike Nikolic " More often than not I skip by uninspired work without comment. Anyway, Thanks for all who took Time to Enter a Post, here. Peace !

Matt Lauer, also We are talking about the " Staff of Photo.net ". The people that Rate and or add a Critique to your : " Crtitique Request " .

Matt Lauer, You miss my point, Altogether. Yes rating and critiqueing can be hard for " Beginning Level Photographers. But, It can be done without a " Total Humiliation of that Photographer " .

You see, My friend, We can do with " Humillty ", that keeps the Photographer : Inspired, Determined, and Deticated ( To push them to the next level ). Thats my Point. You missed it, Entirely.

But still does not, offer an Answer, to the True " Subject " of my Post.

The Valididity of the " 8 anonymous raters " , who are in Question, here.

If there are 8 anonymous raters, in " Photo.net ". They sure seem to give some people, a feeling of Total

Neglect, Disregard, Skipping Over, Ignoring, and " Giving a Cold Shoulder to " .

 

For me, as an Example. I Rarely receive more than 3 Rating from these " 8 Anonymous Raters ". I look at other

peoples' work and see many more ratings from these " 8 anonymous raters " .

 

Sometimes, I wonder if there is " Abuse" from these " 8 anonymous raters ". Do they Intentionally, not Rate some

Photographers and " Tag them " or " Red Flag " them for Abuse or other Incompetent and or Unfit Reasons.

 

I feel that, I know the way of " Photo.net " ways of the " Critique and Rating System " . I believe its' the " Buddy

System ". If you want Critiques and Ratings, you should ( After uploading a picture and submitting it for critique ) go

to the " Critique Forum " and rate and critique other photographers work and, the same, in the " Top Rated Photo

section ".

 

I do this. For every Picture I ask for Critique, I properly rate and critique a total of 8 to 10 other photographers. And

I, do not give Negative " Feedback or Abuse " to any that I " rate and critique ". I might offer Suggestions to Make

their image Better or Provide Advise. But for the most part I try to Encourage them or Offer very Positive feedback, on

their " Beautiful Work ". I usually " Solute a Photographer " for their Brilliance.

 

A photographer should never give a Negative feedback to another Photographer, no matter what level they are at.

All photographers' should offer advise and encouragement, to them ( especially when its a beginner level

photographer ). All things being Equal, we all Started, at the " Beginner Level ". Sure " Objective Criticism " is good ,

for us, all. It helps us " Grow and Mature " as Photographers and Artist. But It should be done with a sense of "

Grace " or " Mercy " involved .

 

I am very " Adamant " about this. You do not " Tear down their Wall " or " Discourage them " from trying to

becoming better. Some of the Critiques, I see in here, are Appalling ! The Way Some People Are Completely

Abusive to Others, with Their Comments, makes me " Sick to my Stomach ".

 

But, my Point remains this : Are these " 8 anonymous raters " Favoring some and Ignoring Others ?

 

Do any Adminatrors what to comment to this? Besides Trying to " Tapdance " around this Issue and Point, of

Matter.

Folks, lets' be real and true to this subject. People have argued, for years that Photography is not art. They all say that, the time essence of creating pictures are the reason, for pictures, to fail in the art forum. They all argue that the time " fature" is what differs' from true art.

But with the evulsion of digital photoghraphy and the digital darkroom are debates that photos' can

become art, in itself.

I know that, with, all my tools that a picture can take hours or days to produce a finished product.With the right representation of your work, photography can become true art.

The fact is to remaim, humble about what each photo brings to you and speaks to the viewer.

 

I don't know about you, but photography is very spiritual, to me. I must say the things, on my mind.

 

I must give, all the credit, for my talent, back to "GOD ". He gave it to me, period. When I go out on a photo shoot, the Lord whishers, in my ear. He tells me where to go, when to be patient, when to move on, to a different area, and tells me when he will show me his glorious creation. He blesses me for being obedient, and following his gloroius walk to show and reveal his glorious creation. Then it all starts with following the voice. And acting on what is shown, to you, with you visual eye, to see what is all around you.

The inspiriration of photography, is all around us. It's up to us, to capture it, edit it, represent it, and produce the image , in an art form, period.

People can say what they want, but photography can become true art, If we are willing to push it to the limit!!!!!

Just remember, that GOD gave you this talent. Give him the glory, he deserves, when you receive that Wow picture.

Photography can = Art. It's up to you.

I've seen a lot of landscapes, in here, lately. I love to photograph them, myself.

It's a a passion of mine.

I am not the best photographer, in " Photo.net ", by far. But " God " has given me

a talent for art. The medium is in photos'. God blesses me every time I go on a

photography trip. He guides me, shows me, and leads me to the image, he wants

to display to me. It's very spiritual and I can't take credit for the images, he gives

me. And I must give him the Glory he gives me. I hope that I don't sound like a "

Jesus Freak ", but I really don't care, what people think. " God is my first love, and

I worship him. I Praise him for the talent, he gives me.

 

But, getting back to the subject matter and the " Question".

 

I see so many wonder landscapes( in Photo.net) and I know that some images

are altered, by software programs, that enhance " The Original Image".

 

Anyone, in here, know what are some of the popular " Programs " people buy and

use, to " Enhance Photos' " .

 

I know what " Photoshop" can do. Layers, Masks, Filter enhancement, and

everything that you can do with" Adobe Photoshop cs ".

 

But I know that other " Photo-Software " is being used. Can anyone tell me what

people are using??? Can anyone tell me, what are some of the popular programs

available???? Can anyone tell me, what I can do to find what are the best " Photo

Software " to the Photographer, to evolve to the next generation of " Brilliant

Images ", so that I can ketch up with the rest.

 

Please, anyone respond. I know that most " Photographers' " don't want to reveal

their secrets, but sharing isn't mastering the craft.

I switched to sigma 2.8 lenses, a year and half ago and saw no difference with quality. The sharpness, colors,contract, and exposure seemed the same to me. Only difference was the higher price of cannon models. 3 things I always look at when purchasing a lens: How many elements are inside, what the maximum aperture is, and how big is the mm circumference in the front of the lens. And, of course is it dedicated for the camera model.

I have aways been a cannon shooter. I started with the original digital rebel. Then moved up to the 20-D. There are always 2 ways to see what the focus issue is. Either the lenses you're using or the camera body. You said that you use quality glass so it's the body itself.

I experienced the same problems with the Rebel and 20-D. When I purchased the 30-D, the problem went away. There are plenty of stores that will buy the camera back from you, and trade up for a better model. That's want I did each time I upgraded.

Or if your career is primarily " Photography ". Keep the 20-D and buy a 2nd camera body. I've always enjoyed having 2 verses 1. You alway have a back-up and, if your out in the field, use 1 for wide angle and 1 for telephoto lenses. It's faster and safer. You don't have to open up that camera body( to dust and particles) to change lenses.

Haven't tried the 40-D yet, but the 30-D is superior in focusing, to the 20-D.

what is the trick to continue to receive ratings and comments on

photo's submitted to be critiqued !!! i have been disapointed about

this through this website !!! i have submitted many photo's and have

gotten high ratings and comments , but it appears that they are

dropped from the gallery after only a few days !!! while other

pictures and photographers continue to compile them (number of

ratings ); mine stop receiving anything else after a few days . i

don't understand this !!! do i have to pay more money or make an

additional contribution to " photonet" ??? or is this whole site a

hoax ?? or are my pictures - no good - and members of staff just

flattering me -to continue the membership ?? what is the answer

here ?? i use this site as a way to continue to improve my ability

and progress in the field , but this issue irritates me. how can you

receive 10 ratings in a day with a average of 6/6 and then not

receive another one -at all - after that . this doesn't make any

sense . an answer to this issue would be greatly appreciated !!
