1.
Hi everyone,
I have a 430EX Speedlite, and I'm working with it for a few years now. Since last weak I've noticed that only one Focus Assist beam on the Flash is working. I actually see only one led lights up, and the other one stays off all the time.
Is it possible that the led is broken ? Can I replace it by myself ? Is it recommended ? If so, what is the procedure of replacing that malfunctioning led ?

Thanks is advance,
Oren.

  2. Thanks for all the tips.

As for a tripod, I forgot to mention I already have a Vivitar VPT-1200 which I use alot especially for night-shots and fireworks.

As for a replacement for my 28-90: a Non-Canon lens is out of the question for me as I'm a loyal Canon fan :-)

I would rather get a good Canon lens at 28-90mm (or close to that range). The same goes for my 75-300

As for L-lenses: I think that putting an l-Lense on an EOS 300 is like putting a Ferrari Engine in a cheap old car... Anyway, I believe I'd rather spend the big money on L-lenses when I finally buy the 5D and not right now.

As for what I shoot (I did forget to mention it): thses days I mainly shoot my new 4 months son; I shoot indoors with my 50 1.8 natural-light, indoors with my 28-90 and my flash, outdoors with 28-90 and flash, or outdoors with 75-300. As you can see I like portraits very much, and I always look for the perfect portrait picture.

As for my budget: well, from comparisons I made so far I do have the budget for good non-L lenses. not more.

To sum it all up, I agree that replacing my lenses will produce better resaults but I'm still planning on that 5D in the range of the upcoming 2 years...

    Any thoughts ?

  3. Hi all,

    My EOS system currently includes:

EOS 300 (bought as a kit),

    RS60-ES remote control

    28-90mm f:4-5.6 (kit lens),

    75-300mm f:4-5.6 III USM,

    50mm f:1.8 II,

EW-60C lens hood (for my 28-90),

ET-60 lens hood (for my 75-300),

two HAMA 58mm UV filters (one IV and one IX),

    COZO 52mm UV filter

    speedlite 430EX,

    Stoffen flash diffuser

I usually use Fuji PRO 400H or KODAK PORTRA 400NC for winter shots and Fuji PRO

160S or KODAK PORTRA 160NC for summer shots. I always develope my films on

KODAK paper in my favorite lab.

As my "dream camera", the 5D, is still too expensive for me (mind the fact that

I'll probably buy some new high-quality lenses along with the camera), I'm

still trying to take the best out of my current system.

My question is: how can I improve my system with additional equipment (if any

    needed at all) ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Oren.
