Amazon.com is selling for US$4049 with all the fixes. Got mine there.

Thank you Pete/Marlene. It is also available in the www.usa.canon.com site.

Forgot to mention, for feel I am only comparing between 5D and 1v.
-
Tom - I have the 1v, 5D and 1DMk3. In my personal opinion the 5D is much slower in auto focus than the 1v and 1DMk3. If you can live that and less focus points then go for the 5D. Feel wise, I like the 1v better. Is the 1DMk2 an option for you? D300?

The 16-35/2.8 II is very much wider than 24-70/2.8 and 24/1.4. Each mm counts for wide angle lenses. It is especially useful for landscapes.
-
I have the 24/1.4 and has never regretted the purchasing decision. I shoot both film and
digital. In low light situations, I usually shoot at 1.4. I also have the 24/2.8 but seldom use
it now. I do not own the 28.
-
No problems with mine.

I am also a EOS 1v shooter. I have the Canon 24/1.4 and 24-70/2.8. Unfortunately I don't have 17-40/4 and will not be able to comment. I like the 24/1.4 over the 24-70/2.8 for less distortion and better sharpness. I shoot lots of available light handheld using Velvia 50, Kodachrome 64 and 200 so I love fast lenses. Another lens for you to consider is the new 16-35/2.8L II. This would be my next lens.

"I don't want to spend a ton".
I don't know how much is that and most things are relative to your level of affordability. But I would recommend the EOS 1v or 3. The 1v is very fast as it has 45 points for auto focus. It is always a pleasure for me to use the 1v. Just my personal thoughts.

I have a 1v and love it. Recently Fuji announced the reintroduction of Velva 50. I have both digital and film cameras. I also shoot with rangefinders and medium format cameras. For portraits, I shoot digital and for my personal work I shoot mostly film and sometimes digital. The 1v is an incredible camera. Enjoy them while they are around. I will not regret if they slowly disappear into the darkness. They are only a tool for my photography. The used prices are great these days. I would not hesitate to get another body in the near future as soon as I get all the L lenses that I need.
-
This is very strange for me. I have the same lens as you described and never had your results. Is it all the time like this?

Sekonic L-558. I use the spot meter to measure flash readings on highlight and shadow areas of heads and faces.

Nikon Scan works on my MacBookPro. I have the 5000 ED and 9000 ED.
-
I second the comments by Edward Ingold and Michael Axel. You will have to factor in a good film scanner as well. The Nikon 9000 ED can run you $1800.
-
I use my 503CW with Gitzo G-2220 Explorer Aluminium Tripod Legs (Rapid Column) - Supports 13.20 lb (5.99 kg).
-
From my experiences with the 5000 ED, the answer is NO when scanning negatives. There
are two black borders on the right and left sides but not top and bottom - assuming the
negative is laid out horizontally.

There is an article about his work in Digital Photo Pro
-
If it can make this type of image, I am very interested.

I was researching on the D-lites. I dont think you can trigger them wirelessly and control them remotely. You can trigger them using an optical slave. Because of these two factors I bought something else. I need to control the lights remotely.

I have the 24-70/2.8 L. It is huge and heavy. Personally, I don't find it fast enough. I like the 50/1.4 and the 85/1.8 better but both of them are not zoom. I like to shoot @1.4 and 1.8 in very low lights. If you can rent one for the weekend, that would be ideal.

I like cotton Domke shoulder bags. Nylon rubs onto my clothing.

You can find out more information <a href="http://web.mac.com/tinyproductions/iWeb/

For your confirmation, I have a PME-90 with A16. I can shoot verticals handheld.

Pelle Piano> I have not used the blue background before. Does the blue light from the
background ever spill on to the subject, e.g. hair and how do you control the spill? Thank
you.
