Send the camera to David Odess.
It is beyond anything you or anybody else can do for this camera. I am certain that David will not only fix it . He will do a great job, bringing the camera to specs as per de factory and all this is not going to cost you and arm and a leg

I have and I use both of them. The main difference has to do with the newer mirror and the fact that in the ELX "what you see is what you get" mainly with longer lenses. I have not noticed any of the differnces you mention .
If the cameras are in MINT condition I would buy the one you decide to sell. It is not easy to find MINT for real cameras like yours.
They are both wonderful pieces of equipment.
The only real diference has to do with Flash and the TTL feature of the ELX. The battery issue has never been a problem for me.

Has anybody tried to use the CFV digital back with the PME90 View Finder?
As the Digital Back has an additional button to push in order to release the
back attached to the body of the camera, the push/release button of the PME90
does not address this issue. It works very well to relase the film backs ( all of
them)
Is there any trick to be used in order to release the digital back using the PME 90?
I have not tried it for fear.
Any advise?
Does the digital back fit in the 500 series body with the PME90? I have the
viewfinder and would love to be able to use it with this new toy.
Thank you for the advise and for your comments on the matter

Dear QG:
You are right on the money. That is the explanation for my problem. I will try to get the
set up you recommend. If unable to get it I will continue to use the camera attached to a
computer.
I appreciate your comments and suggestions
Happy Holidays for you and your loved ones
Sincerely

Jurgen:
There is not enough space between the digital back with the EL adapter and the tripod
mount on the camera. When I try to place the digital back it is short one millimiter or so.
There is not enough wiggle room for the double system of the back to work.
If you just try any film back you will see that you need a little space to accomodate the two
camera supports in the bottom of each camera with teh opening of the film back. Once
you have accomodate the position everything else works fine.
Is the digital back does not have the battery there is no problem whatsoever.
The problem begins when I put the EL adapter on the digital back and then try to mount
the digital back on the camera. I am sure that the tripod support can be changed.
The bottom line is simple. I have all kind of Hassy equipment and lenses, II just wanted to
take some photographs and was trying to get instant gratification. I do have the 30 mm
lens, the 40mm, 50mm 60 and so on.
I have used all my lenses for 30 years on a variety of photographic styles.
I am just a serious amateur photographer. I will continue to work on the matter after I
explore the other possibilities of this gear. So far I am very satisfied with the results. It is
still difficult for me to get used to the 1.5 to 1 focal distance ratio. I am sure it is just a
matter of time and experience
Thank you for your help and your interest

Attach the EL-ADAPTER to the CFV-Back and the battery to the adapter . It will fit perfetly . But ..... you can not use the old (long type) tripod quick coupling . You must use any of the short type couplings . I have just tried that out with my 905SWC and also with my SWA from 1957 .
Jurgen for a reason beyond me It does not work. The two hooks of the body do not align well with the digital back. i have tried it several times. I do need to recognize that I am very scared about forcing things with this new toy. May be with less fear it would work. I just could not accomplish it. The double button system of the back needs a bit more wiggle room in the bottom. Anyhow the back fits perfectly without the battery. As I said I used the firewire from the computer to feed the back with electricity and it worked fine using FlexColor
Thank you

Gentlemen:
Thank you for the series of responses regarding the problem I have mounting the back to the SWC.
The only thing that worked was just to use the back without the battery and connected to a computer in order to get the power from the fire wire port.
My SWC camera just reads "Super Wide C" on the plate on the left side of the camera.
I tried to use the EL adapter but the tripod plate is too close to the body and there is not enough wiggle room. The two main hooks on the camera do not align properly to the back.
worse of all the regular four screws in the bottom of the tripod plate
are somehow covered and they are not regular screws...........
So I do not know. I was anxious to use the 38mm lens of the SWC to see the effect of the 1,5 to 1 Focal length ratio on the landscaping shot.
Thank you for your suggestions.
The serial number of my SWC is UPW 12051. I know that with this information we can figure out the date of production. I just do not know
If anybody else has another suggestion I would appreciate it.COnnecting the camera to a computer is OK but not very practical
Thank you

I have an old SWC Hasselblad.
I just bought the Hasselblad digital back CFV. Does anybody know how to mount
the digital back on the SWC?
The tripod mount in the bottom of the SWC camera makes mounting the digital back
on the camera impossible if the battery is in place on the digital back.
The digital back comes with a plate to be used in this case but I can not mount it
on the camera. Does anybody know the secret answer for this situation?
I guess if there is a thinner Sony battery than the one I have it could work.
There is nothing on the instruction manual supplied by Hasselblad at all.
Thank you

The only thing I can add to the masterful set of instructions given by Bob and Marc is that make sure you do not share memory cards with other digital cameras. If you do and you do not format the card in the Hasselblad digital back you will not be able to retrieve your 3F files using FlexColor. I do not know why it happens but it does. It happened to me and also to a friend who has the same equipment. I used a previously formated card ( I also shoot with a Cannon OS1 DS) the Hassy camera will see the photographs but when you go to FlexCOlor the Import window will not see the shots.
Just a word of advise so you do not go through what I did. I lost a bunch of very important photographs.
I follow the same steps Marc described in his very well written note
Good luck and enjoy.
It is a nice piece of hardware. It produces great results. I own the CFV but I have also used the 39 Megapixels with the H3 system.
Unless you need big time blow ups there is hardly a difference between them both....other than the price......
