Hi, just inherited a bunch of older Nikon lenses, and one is a 200mm Q lens...before i go and try and snap this on to my
expensive d300 or d200..is there something i should know..will it damage the camera...i have looked around and couldn't
find the answer but i did try on the 85 and 20 i got and they worked fine but they are not designated as a Q lens...thanks in
advance....

thanks..i am of a mind at this point to try and get the best price i can for the camera lenses and backs and several
accessories without going too crazy or getting too greedy...i appreciate all the input but spending thousands is out of the
question and buying a scanner and shooting film is not a desirable option...i will contact KEH and usedcamerabuyer.com
and others...i do not mess with e-bay...
-
I would most likely go the digital route rather than try to shoot and scan film...already got tons of nikon equipment plus a coolscan iv..i was hoping to use all the MF lenses on some digital MF camera or MF cameraback and take advantage of the larger format and still keep the cost reasonably down....i have never shot MF but have always appreciated the clarity and detail provided by MF images....thanks for all your answers...

hi, I inherited a Hasselblad 500 C with 4 lenses, all in very good shape...first instinct is to sell it all, but are there any existing
digital cameras like the phase one or others that will accept these lenses..is ther eany way to utilize these incredible lenses
using todays digital technolgy without going broke<<< thanks in advance for any answers.....

Hi, i am looking at the new 8gb UDMA cards (san disk) and was wondering if I
absolutely must buy a new reader to get that extra loading speed. I do not have
firewire on my laptop, just wi-fi capability for internet, will that also
prevent me from getting a high speed reader...I know the card is fast but
without the reader to load it quickly is it worth the extra$$$. Thanks in
advance for your help..Joe D.

Hi, I tried using TIFF once or twice on the d300 and it seemed to me the camera transfer to the card went much slower. I was attempting to change a setting and noticed the images were still loading. If you do not want to deal with all the associated labor of RAW try it but I found it a little bit difficult to wait till all the images were loaded and as per the previous poster the card fills up awfully fast....When shooting film I scan to TIFF which is what i got used to but the digital factor has changed all that...Joe D.

Hi, opened up my sb800 to find a slightly corroded battery in one of the
chambers , immediately took it out and cleaned the entire chamber as best as i
could without dismantling it. I can see the contact at the bottom has some
corrosion. I am not too good at that kind of thing and the flash is too
expensive for me to be tinkering with it. Anyway it will not turn on even with
brand new batteries. Has anyone used a reputable repair person in the north
carolina area or elsewhere.. If i have to ship it I will..i live in the myrtle
beach, sc/wilmington nc area...thanks

hi, is it just me or am i missing something, have a d70s and a d200 and i have never formatted a card before using..just pop it in the camera and shoot, when i put the card in the reader which is connected to my computer it automatically shows a dsc folder for that camera..if i out it in the other camera it does the same sothere would be 2 separate folders, is it absolutely necessary to format the card first and if so why???thanks...

thanks john, i will be getting the camera tuesday...

asking a related question, i intend to use Major brand lithium AA rechargeable batteries in the holder. I assume that is ok and won't hurt the camera. In the past voltage levels in Lithiums caused some trouble....Joe
-
Thanks Shun and Lil Judd and Ryan, I emptied out the piggy bank for the camera and battery pack so i will go with the AA's and an affordable (funny word isn't it for NIKON people) battery charger. the other way will cost another 200 plus dollars...now i have to get B&H to take back the en el 3e..they seem to be pretty good about things and Ihave spent enough there..i can get the 8fps only when i need it for bird photography...
-
Thank you but my confusion now is even though i bought an extra en el 3e, putting it into the mb 10 will not give me the 8fps, i would have to either use an el 4a (which means a new charger) or use 8AA's. i thought the holder for the double AA's had to be purchased separately. it sounds as if users are happier using the double AA's than the en el4a..thank you all for your patience with my confusion..i may just return the en el3e, i already have 2 i use with my d200..Joe D.
-
do you mean Nikon includes the AA holder with the battery pack. i thought i had to buy yet another special holder..when you say big battery do you mean the el 4a?
-
Hi, awaiting a d300 and battery pack mb-10..unfortunately per instructions
from the B&H guy i ordered an extra en-el3 e to get 8fps..i found out i really
need the en-el4a to get the 8fps which i think means , i also need a new
expensive battery charger for that battery..is my other option to buy (nikon
is good at getting us to do that) the extra double AA holder a better option
and use rechargables, which i assume would also still require another battery
charger...thank you for your answers...joe d.

The best tip I can give is , go to a large book store that has mags and will allow you to browse though the read some of the articles and see if it suits what you are looking for. Mags are good if they offer "how to" tips or educational websites. Every magazine will have to carry ads to help pay the way. Using the mags to learn is another tool. After I read the ones I subscribe to I donate them to my local library or pass them on to another photographer. If it is your magazine tear out an interesting article and file it. Also check you rlocal library, they may have donated photo mags you can take, read amd redonate...just my 2 cents..Joe

If I see Nikon beginning to fall behind I will quickly order a camera and lens. I would suggest we all do the same. Don't forget "We are Nikon".

I was at Lone Pine on 395 in March many years ago and went to a viewing spot which showed almost the entire eastern Sierra Range with snow capped peaks all the way to Reno on a clear day. Try to at least make that one stop..

Vivek, I usually do inline images but I screwed up on the resizing, I should have reread the rules. I was upset that it came in as an attachment. Like your images, thanks for sharing...Joe
