All good advice, above, and best used in combination I think. The main "trick" is to become aware of what your exposure values are under a variety of light conditions, rather than just matching up a needle setting. I will THINK, then estimate an exposure setting of the day based upon conditions, then check my mental processes with a hand held meter. Usually I will be within a stop or so. Then, you are all set until you notice that you are entering a totally different light conditions area. Then just open up or close down a setting or two. As mentioned, this will work great for print films.
Taking the "bright sun F16" rule a step further will also help for street shots by nearly eliminating the need to focus. Using a 400 or 800 speed film, just set the shutter to "one over the speed", f16 for bright day, zone focus using the scale on the camera and you can just point and shoot everything from a few feet away to infinity. You will be happy.

Question for Steve: Do you have a phone number or website for Miller's Imaging? A search on Google produced only three hits, none of them correct. Thanks.

I am a newly registered Photonet user. I have much enjoyed the discussions of equipment and photo critiques, but I came across this thread as I was trying to find a specific "business of photography" forum. The topics of copyright, model release, business practice and tax issues could be starting points of discussion. Is there a forum for such that I have perhaps missed?
meanwhile, this is a great site! Thanks to all for the sharing of information.
Hassy - a pain to use for "dynamic" photos??
