I've got the the 17-55mm, and it's a great lens to use. The build quality is good, which explains the weight of the lens. The image quality is great too. I would definitely use it for any weddings that I do. VR is not really important to me, as I find that a faster lens is more useful for me when I do weddings. Cheers!

The 80-200mm is as good, but I think both are a little on the heavy side. Maybe you would like to consider 85mm f/1.8 (cheaper and good). Also there's also the 105mm f2DC. Cheers!

Yup, I totally agree with them. I was deciding on which too, some time back. Got the 17-55mm, and never look back. I am using a D70s, and it gives me a better range. Can't tell the difference in terms of quality. It's just great! Cheers.

That would be my favourite AFD 24mm f2.8 and AFS 17-55mm f2.8.

The 17-55mm is just great, and it's my only zoom now. I would prefer the Tamron 17-50mm over the Nikon 24-120mm.

Nope, you are not imagining things. = ) It's a plane, it's a bird, No, It's Nikon... Haha. A thread from a local forum.

Thank you for all the responses! Seems like many people still prefer not to purchase the DX lens, since it is not interchangeable. Cheers!

Hi,
My apologies for not being clear... What I meant is for those who have just purchased a DSLR, or had just moved over to digital photography. It's not really a poll, but I just wanted to know whether people are selling their film body since the usage are so low. Hope I've made myself clear... Thanks.

I have the Nikkor 24mm AFD, and I think that it's a great lens. Low distortions and good flare control. Cheers!

Hi,
For those who still owns film bodies, do you still use it frequently? Will
you be keeping it or selling it? =) Also, for those keeping it, do you
purchase DX lens for your DSLR? It's such a pity that it cannot be
interchangeable with film bodies, isn't it? Any comments?
Cheers!

My best advise for you, is to NOT attempt to ON the camera, until you are 110% sure that it is completely dry. If not you'll fry up the circuit boards, and etc. Just give it a try once, you're 110% sure. =) Good Luck.

It's a brand new flash, which I bought last year. Thanks for all the advise. I think the problem is solved. *YEAH* At first, I only clean the outside contacts which is easily accessible, it does not help. Then I tried using a tweezer to hold a small piece of eraser to clean the contacts inside. YES! It's working now. Many thanks again.
-
Thanks. I've tried that but the problem is still there... I use an eraser to gently rub on the contacts.

Perhaps you could try www.dpreview.com or www.dcviews.com. Hope it is useful. Cheers!

Hi, my SB-600 recently has got a problem in starting up. I have to tried
placing in new batteries, but the problem still exists. It is unable to ON
when I press the on off switch. I need to open the battery cover and close
it, and open and close, and ..... several times before it can be ON. Btw, I
can see the green light for the LCD display ocassionally when the cover is
close. Also, once it is ON, it has no problem of switching it ON or OFF. If
you try perhaps a few hours later. It gets the same problem again. Is my SB-
600 going to spoil soon? Anyway to solve this? Thanks.

Yes, there was a shortage a few weeks ago in Singapore due to the strong demand. I saw many posts in the local forum talking about it. I guess the shortage is already over now.

Hi, I think the website is well layout, except that I find the drop down menu is a bit distracting and don't go really well with the website, in general. Just some thoughts.
-
Hi All, another quick question. Which one is better on film and digital body? The Tamron 17-35mm f2.8-4 or the Nikkor 18-35mm f3.5-4.5? Did anyone did any comparison on the both? Tried searching the net, but don't have results that's relevant. Thanks.
-
May I ask how much did it cost you? It's not available locally yet. Can't wait to view your pics. = ) Thanks.
-
Any other comments? or anyone in the same situation as myself would like to share some experience? Thanks.
-
No. The AFD20mm f2.8 is about $830, more expensive then the Tamron.
-
Hmm. Seems like AFS 17-35mm IF-ED f2.8 is the more popular choice. But it cost a bomb locally in Singapore. A new piece is about in SGD $2500, and used $1800. However the Tamron new is about $650. I know that its sure the winner, but difficult to part with the almost 4 times the price. =(
-
Hi,
You can visit the following forum: http://forums.clubsnap.org/ to do a search to get a rough indication of the prices and perhaps an idea of where to get the cards too. Cheers!

Hi All,

Similar to my previous post, but more focused... = )

I've got the AFD24mm 2.8, AFD50mm 1.8, and AFD85mm 1.8, and
recently had just bought a D70s with kit lens. I'm still using my
film camera ocassionally. I tend to use either the wide angle or my
85mm, and seldom in between.

I was thinking of purchasing the Tamron 17-35mm 2.8-4 Di, so that
I can replace my 18-70mm kits lens and the 24mm. Reason being that
the 24mm is under utilised now, since I using the D70s more
frequently and the kit lens cannot be used on my film body. Does it
make sense to you to change the kit lens, so that I could use the
lens on the film body as well?

New Nikkor 35mm f1.8 DX Lens Announced:

I was considering the AFS 50mm, and now, another one for my consideration. ha ha.
Not only that they are slow in replacing or coming out with new lenses, they never fail to surprise me.
I guess they are just wanting to capture more D40/D60 users. Now it makes me consider getting a D40/D60.
It's so much cheaper, and it really seems like there are more on the way...
