Do all nikons do this in Aperture-Priority, that is close the shutter by manualy turning the speed dial when exposure is beyond specs? I know that if I re-shoot I just switch to Bulb and manualy bracket using my stop-watch.

When shooting in A-P mode, in subdued light, I know the electronic
shutter will open for up to 8 seconds however if it calls for more
than 8 seconds the shutter stays open permanently or untill I turn
the shutter speed dial to a manual setting. Is there another way to
do this as this method makes for camera shake.

Mr Speedlight I must apologize, I read your response and didn't beleive you but lo and behold I took a shot in subdued light at f22 and the shutter closed automatically at 4 minutes and 48 seconds.
Thank You
