Hi Leonard,
As a optometrist working in Low vsion this also appeared initially
confusing. However there is light at the end of the tunnel as it
were...!
Your problems in comprehsion are to do with "exit vergence"
from the magnifier .Let me (try to..)explain.
If you look at the exshenbach web site you will see exit vegences
listed. These are the vergences for each magnfier expressed in
mm.
if you have an exit vergance of 250mm (4D) then you will require
a spectacle powere of +4D to see through the mag clearly and
comfortably and be using it at it's optimal magnificatioon and
field of view. OR you need to be myopic yourself by 4 dioptres OR
have enough focussing ability (ie under 40) to be able to focus by
4 dioptres comfortably.
If you are pseudophakic (ie have had cataract removals) then all
this depends on your post op refraction...
Clear as mud?
e- mail me off list of you want to know more.....!!

Philosophical / Metaphysical Question - What Attracts Us To Beauty In The Landscape?
in Large Format
Posted
My first post - bear with me!
Mike,
I think that beauty in landscape as also a time, in the sense of
"moment in time" affected thing. You are sensitive to the same
landscape giving different emotional response at diferent times.
I don't think that there is necessarily one response to a particular
scape, it\s a matter of how we are feeling at the time (as well as
lots of other variables....
my 2p. Tthanks for the fascinating thread.
