"3. For photos on the system less than 30 days, users would be
limited to not more than 5% of 7's. So, someone can go through
older pictures in the database and rate the ones he or she likes
without restriction, but on newer pictures would be limited to no
more than 1 "7" per 20 photos rated."
I think it's impossible to prevent mate-rating by simply changing
the rules. People will always find their loopholes. Why shouldn't
these twits wait a month so as to be able to give their pal's
pouting patsy with pink pants a solid 7/7 and Mr. Gougenheim's
wretched photographic failures the 1/1 they deserve?
If someone is an verifiable abuser of this system, he/she
shouldn't be punished descreetly (deleting his photos, kicking
him out of PN etc.) I'd love to see a "pillory page" where their
names and malpractices are publicly visible. Arrgh.

Can I delete an alert completely instead of disableing it?

To make myself clearer: I don't want to replace my pictures with
other versions. I simply framed them and gave them another size
to reduce loading time! But thanks anyway, William gave the right
hint how to do it. I kept all of the precious comments.
-
How can I replace an image and keep the comments? Thanks
for helping.

I feel guilty for months, because I still haven't paid my 25 bucks
for all the fun I have with photo.net. As there is no pay-pal
system in Germany I am a bit insecure about leaving my credit
card information on the server. Is it really a safe way to pay - and
is there no other possibility? Thanks for any information.

Oh yes, there it is! Thank you, Brian, and sorry that I looked on
the wrong page...

This brilliant new feature of being able to see one person's
highest rated pictures has disappeared on my own page! It has
been there, I swear! Is it a bug?
-
Thanks for telling us! I wasn't aware of this problem. For my
English is not the best I am always tempted to correct my
comments afterwards :-)

Downsize it to a width of 200 pixels. This should work.

Thanks to all of you for your most satisfactory answers!

I noticed, that some of the pictures uploaded in threads appear
only as blue links, others appear as pictures (although all of
them are JPEG files).
Why?
-
Yes, that is the solution. Thank you.

Hopefully I am not number 10.000 to ask this question. (The
search function does not work, but that's not my question here.)
How can I change the order of photos within a folder?
Thanks for your answer!

I am quite new in this forum. Although I experienced what you
write about this idiots who give too-good/too-bad ratings - I see
that the majority of members are fair and constructive. I
appreciate all of the patheticly few ratings I got on my pictures
and I must admit that some of the 5s I got from better-known
people really made my day :-)

I understand the task as to take a picture that is veeeeery looooong (at least
as long as the sofa is :-)) So you have to find a situation that allows your
family to spread out (As i do not know whether your family wants an artistic
or a funny photo I may be totally wrong):
- You certainly know the famous album cover of "Abbey Road" of the Beatles,
where they walk over a zebracrossing. Walking in line is a possibility to cover
a lot of space
- Or: put them in front of a brick wall (very nice contrasts for black and
white). Everyone wearing clothes with good contrasts (striped shirt, plain
blouse, long light dress, short black pants etc.) Put a lot of space between
them. No sky.
- Or as a funny motive: let them carry something very long together. Use an
unusual environment (i.e. rolled carpet on the beach, canoe in the street)
- Take three photos of the same motive but with different expressions in their
faces (e.g. at each case three earnest, one laughing, or all of them looking in
three different directions etc.) and hang the pictures side by side.
"Highest rated photos by member"

I rate quite rarely, but there are a lot of photos I'd like to keep in
mind and/or show others. What I miss is a "Most appreciated
photos of member" page where I can purposefully upload
photos I want to make visible to others - no matter what the
ratings were.
Sometimes I feel that people only give certain ratings because
the want the shot to appear on their "highest rated" list.
