Nikon is "handicapping" my photography.
I need 1.2 lenses, I wish Nikon has 50/1.2 and 85/1.2, a real 50mm and 85mm.

I don't hear any focus confirmation beep from my D2Xs, I red the user manual
all over, I just couldn't find any info about it. Does the D2xs have focus
confirmation beep? The D200 does. Thanks

Buydig has it for $1309, free shipping.

I tried the Nikon 70-200 VR on my D2Xs the other day, I don?t think the VR is
as effective as the Canon?s 70-200 IS, I know it is working, I heard the
clicks, and the frame does freeze.
However it is just not as efficient as Canon?s IS. Can someone has used both
lenses tell me if this is normal or I got a bad copy? I only have one VR lens
at the moment, thanks!

I don't think the 28-300 lens's image quality is only secondary, especially when you process the images thru DXO.

You already have a 5D and 24-105 IS, why not add a 70-300 DO IS or 70-200 F/4 IS?
The 28-300 IS is a very heavy expensive lens, and it is slow, you will need a fast prime for some night or indoor shot. The main advantage of it is you don't have to change the lens on the field. I think for a lady, the 5D+ 24-105 plus 70-300 combo is a better choice(unless you are Grace Jones type).

The full size sensor will give you cleaner images above ISO 400, if you used to 35mm film, noting will change in terms of lens choices, a 16-35mm lens on film will be 16-35mm on the 5D, same as the depth of field. The 24-105 IS is a perfect lens for the 5D, you can add a 17-40 and 70-200F/4 IS at later time.
I don't have the 30D, but I had a 20D, I would say there are differences between the 5D images and 20D's. The 5D images are a lot better. I print 17x22 on my Epson 4000, even at 12x18, you can still see the difference.

If you already have Canon lenses then 400D, if you already have Nikon lenses then D80, if you have none, then the Pentas 10D.
I use Canon and Nikon, if you just let me pick, I take the D80 anytime over the 400D.

If you want full frame, go with Canon, because there are no other choices, if you want APS stay with Nikon. D200 beat the hell out of the Canon 30D, however, the Canon 1DsMK2 with L glasses outperform Nikon D2Xs with Nikon lens in the same range. Also if you use ISO 400 above a lot, then consider Canon.

I want to buy a good quality monolight with battery porwer for location use, I
got confused with all these brands, can someone in this field suggest
something? Currently I am looking at the Norman's D320 Kit. Is Norman any good?

My 24-70 works fine on my 1DsMK2 and 5D , but it is back focus big time on my friend's 400D. But his 50/1.4 focus perfectly on his 400D, so I don't know what should I say, the body? or the lenses?
-
Always buy the latest, you can get brand new body only for less than $700 bucks, why settle for a used XT? I was at Best Buy the other day, I hold the XTi for while and I think it grip better than the XT, the screen is a lot bigger, and it has the dust removal function,

there is a software called Cancount.
-
looks like there was motion blur.
-
How about the 17-85mm IS, or the 10-22mm.
-
I never had any problems with my rebate checks with Canon.
-
Adobe ACR, Lightroom, Bibble Pro, Capture One 3.7.5 all works fine with D2Xs NEF files. however, the DxO Optics doesn't.

The Sigma 30F1.4 is a corp lens, if you want a lens will work on both corp and full frame sensor, the Canon 24/F1.4 is the way to go.
I don't think the 35mm lens has anything to do with a sensor bigger than 24x36, unless Canon change the lens mount.
-
I have seen a promaster 100mm macro lens in EOS mount for around $120.
-
I have used the 17-85 before on 20D, too much CA as you said, 24-105 has much less CA on my 1DsMK2. I think the 24-105 IS is a much better lens then the 17-85 IS.

I went to Shanghai 4 month ago with 1DsMK2 and 5D and few lenses, at San Francisco airport, they asked me to took some shots with both camera, and they hand checked the 70-200IS. This was before the London event, now it could be tighter.

It is normal.
