Very nicely done, but I can't reaaly see that the more processed version is any better. The unmodified version looks fine to me, and a touch more natural.

A striking image indeed. I especially like the use of square format and the slight vignette in the corners.

Dejan, I like this unusual viewpoint of Mesa Arch. I especially like the way the rim lighting on the rocks at the bottom and left hand side provide a frame for the base of the image. The rocks do not need lightening - the scene looks natural as it would to the naked eye in my opinion.

Nice image Gary, but if you crop the right hand side, it works much better as a square in my opinion. Did you not also take this as a vertical image?
-
A very nice image Stephen. I don't normally care for figures in landscapes, but in this case it does seem to work.
BTW, you have an impressive portfolio - my type of photography.

Badwater close to sunset with a (deliberately) heavily polarized sky.
-
I disagree with the comments about cropping - this image works perfectly as a square, and when cropped the sense of space and depth is lost.

Unusual image of the "Wave" or at least part of it. Very nice sky.

I don't agree with some of the previous comments about this image. It may not be original (how do you make an original image of something as iconic and well documented as this?) but it has been well done.
The lighting is perfect - middle of the day sun suits this image as it avoids ugly heavy shadows which would appear earlier and later in the day. The heavily polarized sky works well with the contrasting small white clouds.
Mind you, I am biased, as this isn't too far removed from the image in my portforlio!

Very nice image, and the square format works well in Antelope as your crop proves. I am amazed there appears to be no footprints on the canyon floor!

One of the nicest formations in Lower Antelope, and one I've attempted myself a few times. However, this is one of the best images I've seen, and it's not the easiest of places to set up a tripod.

Beautiful image, but a shade over lit for my taste.

Jeff, why would you send this image to the digital dustbin? It's a perfect example of how to compose a square format landscape. It certainly doesn't need cropping on the left hand side, and the central placement of the large rock creates a very restful composition that seems to work better in square format than any other aspect ratio.

Definitely one of the most original images of Lower Antelope I've ever seen. Pity about the very bright highlight in the upper half.

Taken early morning June 2008.

Evening light on Half Dome, taken end of May 2008.

I'm so envious - I've always wanted to see this for myself. I take it that you had to hike and camp overnight for the sunrise? How far is it?

Taken back in early March 09.

Ali, I've just had a look at your portfolio, and you have some very beautiful images. This one caught my eye especially, mainly because of the colour. Is this how it appears to the naked eye, or have you manipulated the image in any way?
It's very reminiscent (as are some of your other images) of some of the landscapes I've seen in the United States.
Thnks for your comment on one of my images, by the way.

Taken post sunset using a Bronica SQAi, 40mm lens and Velvia
RVP50. A little more detail in the sky is apparant on the original
transparency - the scanning process hasn't done this image any
favours.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, the rocks are very bright - they were facing straight into the sun and so were reflecting the maximum amount of light. I reduced the reflectance slighty by using a polarizer, but I couldn't afford to use it at maximum, as the sky became very dark.

A pleasing enough image, but a tad over saturated for my taste.

Igor, beautiful crisp image with lots of fine detail. May I ask what scanner you used?
