  1. Torben,

the M8 DOES work, I was at the Photokina too. But you were probably AT THE WRONG STAND. Leica always has some presentation stairs at the Photokina, where all Leica cameras and lenses were displayed and could be handled by the visitors themselves. Those M8 bodies did not work, those were either dummies or the battery was just dead. On the other counters with the Leica Reps you could handle a fully working Leica M8. That's all about it. OK?

  2. Brad,

The guide number controlled flash mode (GNC) does only work with the Leica CM and the SF24D. The SF20 has only the TTL mode. The GNC mode takes the aperture and distance from the camera in consideration. The advantage of this control is its complete independence from the reflective properties of the subject, i.e extremely dark or bright objects are automatically rendered correctly. IMHO the results are better than with the ordinary TTL mode.

  3. Rodrigo,

Leica has a factory in Portugal in Vila Nova de Famalicao. I know they normally do not sell directly, but you may call them and ask them for some good places to buy Leica in Portugal. Maybe some employee sells his old Leica M6. Just some thought.

  4. Steve,

I can not tell you about the price. But I know that these were used Leica R4, which could not been repaired by the Leica Customer Service. These are not working Leica R4 nor Leica R4 Dummies. So every Leica R4 watch is unique with its internal existing and missing parts.

50mm is a great focal length and has its great renaissance these days. I would sell the 1.2 Hexanon and the pre-asph lux and get the new Leica 1.4/50 ASPH instead. The bokeh of the old pre-asph lux is

not that overwhelming to keep it. You even could sell the Summicron too, size and performance are to close to the new 1,4/50 ASPH. The noctilux is another story. I have one too and i was often thinking to sell it, but i never did and i decided never to sell it.

  6. Zura,

though english is not my native language, i still give it a try: check the quick wind lever and the rewind release button. For multiple exposures there is a "lock" which easily covers the rewind release button. Look if the "cover button" is at its right place, this might cause the frozen camera. Hope this helps.

  7. Robert,

welcome to Photo.net. I live in Munich too. There is a very vivid Leica group in Munich and you are invited to join the next meeting if you like. Do you know the german section of the Leica forum at the official Leica site www.leica-camera.de ? Look for Kundenforum and then for 6. Mnchner Forumstreffen. We are a very unique group and it always has been a lot of fun to meet. Once a year the Leica Camera AG invites all german leica-forum members to come to Solms and the Hessenpark with a factory visit, slide shows, different workshops and the possibility to test and use the complete leica equipment. Hope to see you some day.

  8. james,

they all have a 250 Watt bulb, a triac and autofocus. The CA 2500 takes only universal-magazines, where as the the others you mentioned can be used also with the lkm-magazines. The Ca 2502 has the shortest time of changing the slides. The Color 2 and the P2000 are technically identical besides the name. The P2002 has a spare bulb which switches on whithin seconds when the other fails.

  9. Dear K Khanna,

this case was made for the Leica Minilux with the Leica 8x20 Trinovid binocular. There was a special set in black color sold by Leica. I'm quite sure the new Leica CM and the new 8x20 or 10x25 ultravids would also fit. Minilux Zoom and CM Zoom will not fit.

IMHO the price is quite high. I got mine for less. Do you see the red circle next to the serial number and the red "Austellungsware" label underneath the price tag? This does mean thats an used Leica factory demo lens.

    Regards Moritz

  11. Ed,

there are two versions of the Tri-Elmar. Don't stick around with the old model. As i said i have many M lenses but i never considered to buy the Tri-Elmar. The optical quality might be excellent and it might be a Leica milestone mechanically speaking but f4 is SLOW. The Leica M is a available light camera.

    Regards Moritz

  12. Ed,

get a Leica Summicron 2/35 (last pre-asph) for your M6. This was my first M-lens . After many years owning all kind of (expensive) M lenses, I always come back to this set. It is the best compromise mattering size, speed, optical quality and gives you the best overview for the leica viewfinder 0,72. This is also the choice of many others, i.e. last time Ren頂urri was visiting Munich and having an exhibition there, I saw him with his M6 and the 2/35 only.

    Regards Moritz
