Very interesting subject matter and I found the historical information fascinating. Three suggestions for improvement from me would be:

o the water line being dead-centre makes the composition too static

o I would also move the castle left or right a bit(probably left)

o while vignette can sometimes be done well, I don't think you've quite got it here

As Robert Frost wrote:

From what I've tasted of desire

And would suffice."
