1.
I have a CompuTrekker Plus AW. There is tons of space in it. I am glad it has never been weighed! I have a D300 without the MB-D10 and it fits fine. Worst case you might have to take the grip off. I usually carry with me:

- Nikon 50 mm
- Nikon VR 18-200mm
- Nikon 18-70mm
- Charger plus power cord
- extra batteries
- 6 CF cards
- SB-600 with pocket bounce
- Manuals for camera and flash
- 15" Laptop
- Monopod strapped to the side (only been asked once what it was going though security in Vienna and they had no problem with it)
- Lens cleaner, batteries for flash, odds and ends

That is just my camera stuff... I also keep have a couple pens, highlighter, business cards, small pen light, etc. I find the laptop pocket is great to stuff a magazine into too.

The inside pockets in the large compartment are great. I use the top one for my plane tickets and passport. I never have to unzip the bag fully to get at them. The two compression straps make sure the bag never fully opens unless I want it to.

I have traveled for up to a week at a time only with this bag too. Yes... I also stuff my clothes and travel toiletries into it. I never check luggage unless I have to. I would rather be weighted down a bit with a backpack rather than have lost stuff.

I did remove the waist strap. I only put it on if I am really going to be doing a lot of hiking. I found it getting in the way when I didn’t need it. I lost a buckle off the waist strap on the way to Ukraine but Lowepro sent me a replacement at no charge. It is nice to have a company out there do that for free. Customer service rates high on my list!
I have found it fits under all seats in planes but you loose all your foot room. It will not fit into all smaller planes overhead compartments though.
The only disadvantage to this bag (and most backpacks) is you have to take it off and set it down to get any gear you want out. I have to think ahead of what I want on me so I don’t have to go digging. You can stuff way more than 10kg so be careful you don’t get weighed at the airport – or put so much stuff in you break your back!
