Betcha it will retail for much less than a 21mm Leica lens, and have similar performance. Not a bad deal.

Do you want an effective 37mm, or a 32mm lens on your M8? Seems like a big difference, but maybe you're tired of cropping? ;)

FWIW, I sold a Mint 18-70 Nikon kit lens on ebay for more than they sell for new at B&H. There's no accounting for taste, (or passion), in the heat of the moment.

Good for you, Lee! Let us know how the buyer likes the gear.

Tome, tome, tome. My bad.

Like Bob Woodward's new tomb? ;)

The MAP magnifiers have built in diopter correction. Maybe Leica is trying to swing a bit of business towards a tiny competitor ? ;)

Alan Wilder, who is a regular poster here, sent his Hexanons to DAG to check focus accuracy on M bodies. I believe he had a 28mm and a 90mm. They both needed .002 or so in adjustment for use on Leica bodies--Not a lot, but his comparison shots showed marked improvement in sharpness. OTOH, unless you are projecting chromes, or doing very big enlargements, you probably won't notice any problems with the stock Hexanons. They are lovely lenses.

The flash synch mechanism is problematic on the M4-2, according to Sherry Krauter: Plastic bits that can break and jam the shutter. Go for an M4-P if you want a later, meter-less M, IMO.

You might consider the 90 f/4 Minolta Rokkor, M Mount, similar design to the Elmar C, but better coatings and the easy to find filter size of 40.5mm.

An Erte print, maybe? :-0)

Jerry, you've been talking about your primative computer and it's lack of capabilities for years. Buy an emachines PC or an Apple emac AND the DMR kit. You'll have a blast ;).

$100-200 less than a year ago. Check the auction site.

Cosina is certainly not up to the job of producing a quality camera like the Combat Graflex ;). And, remember, 50 years ago, it was made of a very rare material at the time, titanium. If another manufacturer was up to it, the price for the body would certainly exceed $5K. Unfortunately, I doubt we'll ever see mechanical quality of this sort again.

Don't forget the Rollei 80mm f/2.8 Planar in LTM made for the Rollei 35RF/Bessa camera. The only drawback of the lens is the 1.2 meter minimum focus distance. If you're using it on an M, you can get down to sub-1 meter by unscrewing the lens a quarter turn from the M adapter. New, these lenses are about half the list of the new 85 ZM lens. A few have popped up on ebay recently. Superb bokeh, sharper than a pre-ASPH 90 Cron.

Great idea, but the added costs would be huge--look at how much the 90 Macro Elmar accessories go for.

Wow! I like the portrait. I agree, 75mm is an ideal focal length. Enjoy that wonderful lens.

Then you know that wide open the pre-ASPH 35 Lux is about as soft at Josiah's Thambar images, (WITH filter) ;).
-
Richard, C/V copied the ergonomics of the pre-ASPH 35 Lux. Same ears, very similar focusing tab. You like it or you don't but it's great for changing f/stops quickly while keeping the camera at eye level, IMO.

Trevor's point exactly ;).

I believe RFF is doing some upgrading of sytems this afternoon. Pnet had a lot of similar growing pains not long ago.

Um, film is nice ;).

Circuits for the built in meter. Sad story.
