I love the stone on the right - looks so much like a face
-
Nice capture - I like the angle, and the subject being off-center... both add to the candid nature of the shot quite nicely. The little bit of foliage at the top frames it just right.
Technically, the woman's face and the man's hand in the shadow could be brightened up slightly with your dodge tool. Just my opinion; I like the overall feel...

I was hiking up to a lookout in Algonquin Park when this jumble of
exposed tree roots caught my eye. I applied the Orton technique, then
faded it by 50%.
Thoughts?

Terrible image quality - too much use of noise reduction and sharpening filters... Cute girl though.

Competing subjects... it's not clear what you're trying to say with this pic...
-
Perhaps pulling into the water more would have made this a simpler and more interesting shot.

Drum scanned, then Orton technique applied in Photoshop. Comments are

Ditto... and good use of wind in her hair...

Too much clutter... a zoom lens would have enabled you to create a simpler (and more powerfull) composition...
-
Perhaps a bit too much contrast...
-
Great sharpness.

SHadow/Highlight at 50% makes an incredible difference in this shot.
-
Nothing interesting or redeeming about this...
-
Incredible capture... very well executed.
