I don't know what you mean by "give up the ghost"---
However the shot is a bit of all you guess at.---
There was a slight breeze.---Camera was set to manual.---Focussed at infinity.---Speed at 100 ASA.---F8 Aperture.---Finally the shutter setting was circa 2 to 4 seconds.---Hand held?---Well yes and no.---I used a monopod and leaned against some railings but still had to try to keep the camera still and pointing in the right direction.---Personally I am quite pleased with the results.-----Thanks for your time.

Enough Emily Flechtner!!! ---How rude.---If you don't like them don't look at them.---I asked for constructive critique not rude remarks.---Suppose every Landscape or Portrait that was offered for critique got the same repost.----These are the first Firework Photographs I've ever taken & as a subscriber (I note you are not) I reserve the right to upload what I like within the bounds of decency and my allotted space!!----You are not forced to look.----I would like to say thanks to those leaving constructive input and appologise for dear Emily,

It's great just as it is!---The light refraction through the water give it motion.---Great colours too!!---I like the red of the leaf very much.

I'd be real pleased if this were my shot it's great. Trees don't bother me but you could crop them out.---I just missed my opportunity to take some firework pictures over here in the UK where we celebrate Guy Fawkes night on 5th Nov. Just for the record what shutter speed and F/No and ISO did you use to get this?
-
Yup! I like this very much. The blue of the bluebells is great. The dappled lighting is also good. You can almost hear the silence of the forest!
-
This and your other early morning lake vistas remind me of many a morning after spending the night carp and tench fishing.---They capture just the right mood.

Like very much the contrast of the orange within the subtle blue of the flower coupled with the subdued lighting. Great shot!

Calender shot maybe?

WOW this is the sort of thing I would like to achieve. So much detail, so sharp, brilliant!! Can you supply me with details of the close-up set please? How close did you have to get? I use a Sony F717 Thanks Dave H (UK)

Impessive building, excellent lighting and very well photographed! Super picture!! I've seen the real one covered in scaffolding. This looks nicer but then it is not as old!!!!!!

Hi yep it's a nice shot and just the sort I like to take.
Did you use a close-up lens or did you stand back & crop out just this area?
Can you E-mail an answer?

I have to agree with Julius. The horizon needs to be perfectly horizontal. Ignoring that, the shot is stunning but then I'm a lover of sunsets.
Great shot!

I know this or similar has been done before many times before but
then what hasn't.
However criticism would still be most welcome. Thanks
-
You are right Jim, and thanks for your comments. The picture was taken hand held so I guess a tripod would have been a good idea. Trouble is I really only get to use my camera on holiday and you need to travel light on aircraft. Plus I am still getting to grips with my new camera.

I would like to improve my Macro photography so any helpful comments
would be most welcome.

Any advice on improving my technique would be most appreciated.
I offen envy these people that manage to get pin sharp sunsets full
of really rich colour. Is this a matter of technique or just that
they are there when nature serves up a gem?
Thanks Dave H (UK)

I have been here and this shot brings back very pleasant memories. Nicely atmospheric. Same here as my previous comment though. Your horizons must be kept horizontal. Not all of my originals are spot on horizontal but I make sure to adjust them before uploading at 800 x 600.
