  1. There are usually no hard and fast rules that will work for every shooting situation because the S3 has many settings for the user to choose from. It depends on what you are shooting and what you want to get out of it. I find the following suggestions from a couple of S3 photographers who have actually used the camera for a while quite helpful:

sorry maybe someone can build a link.

The many settings on the S3 can create lots of possibilities, you may just have to experiment and see which one best fit your preference and style.

  2. Hi, this question is for those who owns and uses the Minolta 85mm

f1.4 G telephoto lens. I recently bought a new one and while cleaning

the rear glass with a lenspen I noticed it can be depressed and

rotated very slightly. Is this normal for your 85mm f1.4 G lenses as

    well?

  3. I have purchased many new items from Adorama without any problems whatsoever, but I did have a really bad experience with them from buying a used lens once. It was an Olympus telephoto lens advertised on their website as DEMO. Their picture showed a multi-coated version but when the lens arrived it was a single-coated silver nose version, on top of that the aperture ring was loose and the exterior cosmetics were definitely less than DEMO. I called their customer service dept and they assured me the aperture ring would be a quick and easy fix so I send it back to them for repairs. A couple weeks later, no lens and no replies, so I called them back and they said the lens is still being repaired and will be send back to me as soon as it is fixed and said it should not take more than a few days. A couple more weeks later, still no lens and no replies, so I called them back again and they said the lens was just send out and I should receive it in a couple of days. Almost 2 weeks went by and I finally received my lens, the receipt showed it was mailed just 3days ago. Guess what, the aperture ring is still loose and on the opposite side of the ring it now shows a large chunk of black paint missing. It looked as if some ham-fisted amateur repairman took a hammer and whacked at the ring to tighten it up. By this time, I was pretty furious, I called them back and they offered me a full refund if I send the lens back to them. I did so and I thought this nightmare would be over, but NOOO! A couple of weeks later, I see no refunds back to my credit card so I called them back again. They said the refunds have already been made and that I should see a credit on my next statement. Well, my next statement came weeks later and still no refunds, I called them back again and they confirmed me that the refund was made but instead of a credit back to my credit card, it was a check mailed to my home. I told them I have not seen any refund checks yet but the best they can do was to tell me to wait until the end of the following week. Finally, end of the following week came and a refund check showed up in my mailbox and its postage showed it was mailed 3 days prior. Throughout this entire 3 month long ordeal, I had to call their customer service dept numerous times, and switched from one customer service rep to another to another countless times, they never offered any apologies and did not do what they promised to do in a timely manner until the very last minute when I complained over and over again. This was just my bad experience with Adorama but hopefully yours will be different. One thing for sure, I will NEVER buy from their used dept again.
  4. Will a couple of light wrinkles/creases on one of the titanium

shutter curtains of a Nikon F2A be cause for concern? Since the

crease is very light, will it affect the curtain travel or cause any

light leaks? My repairman said these things are made tough and is

still within factory specifications, but I thought I should ask for a

second opinion on this forum from someone who may have a similiar

    condition on their Nikons.
