"Thanks for the pointers though. They'll go on the list for general
site cleanup if we ever have the time to do it!"
I realized after posting this message that I ought to volunteer my
time rather than just bitching. So I posted a reply to Phil's old
request for volunteers:

If there's anything I can do, I would like to contribute.

(i) I can help out with 1-4 (ii) I can contribute 5-10 hours/week.
(iii) I code HTML, Javascript, CSS, PHP, ASP, Flash, etc. I have
expertise with usability and accessibility and I'm moderately
familiar with a Unix shell. (iv) I don't care one way or the other
about for or non-profit status.

I agree completely. It would be much more attractive if Photo.net
gave users an interface to remove unwanted "watched" threads.

For all the other forums, the forum breadcrumb is the same as
the name of the forum - but the "General Photography" forum's
breadcrumb says "Photo.net"
Not a huge issue, but if you happen to get to that forum from an
origin other than the list of forums, then go to the list of forums,
and then want to return to the "Photo.net" forum, you won't find it
listed.
Also, in the "Select a Category" pulldown menu on this (Post a
New Message) page, "Miscellaneous" is spelled "Misceleneous"

If you click on the "Notify me of new responses" link at the top of
the page, you'll receive emails whenever anyone adds to the
thread (in theory - some have said otherwise...) Links to threads
you're watching show up in your "My Workspace" page, but
there's no way to un-subscribe from watching those threads
other than clicking on a link in the email that gets sent following
an update to the thread. So what do you do when the thread dies
and you're no longer interested, but you can't remove it from your
workspace?
Go to the message you're no longer interested in and respond to
it- that should send you an email that will provide you with a link
to unsubscribe from watching that message, and remove it from
the "Questions You're Following" section of your "My
Workspace".

Klugey, yes- but it doesn't look like it's a bug they'll fix any time
soon considering how long it's been around.

I'm trying to find a work around to another of Photo.net's many
user interface bugs - I'd clicked on the dreaded "Notify me of new
responses" link up top and now I'm creating a new response to
see if I get an email that will hopefully contain a link allowing me
to "un-subscribe" from notifications, as I can't seem to do that
from "My workplace"
Please, wish me luck.
