1.
I have my original SWC which I bought new in 1960, started using it professionally when I opened my first Studio in 1966 London England, along with every other Hasselblad body that they made.
Don’t use it professionally anymore, in the advent of digital media. David Odess did the last service to my SWC and after 50+ years the darn thing just keeps working.
As far as the shutter on my SWC, I’ve heard a few people comment that they are a little stiff and don’t have that silky smooth touch, none of them do’ its part of the internal design, and mine’......I find just seems to get better.

  3. Hi Q.G.

Yes, the prints turn out well exposed so I Know the flash is working correctly by measuring the amount of light reflected using the TTL/OTF from the camera circuitry.

On the manuals for the 553ELX it only mentions the Metz working with the dedicated SCA adapter SCA 390, and on the Manual for the D-40 it makes no mention of the light conformation, only by using the test button which fires the flash manually, or by inserting the flash test card, or refer to the camera manual which brings me back to square one.

So I just wonder if the D-40 conformation light works differently than the Metz, also I called Sunpak and Hasselblad service repair center and both suggested to go by what the manual states, I guess their not to sure either, many thanks for your input.

    Mike.

  4. Hasselblad 553ELX and the D-40 Flash confirmation light in viewfinder does not

blink just stays steady, checking with flash meter, exposure is correct! Light

only extinguishes when its out of range. The Metz dedicated flash thats made

for Hasselblad works as described on all models that have TTL/OTF as per the

    manual.

Are there any members who have the D-40 Flash with the same set up? Could you

please confirm if your camera flash works differently? Appreciate any help!

    Thanks. Mike.

  5. Hi William, Thanks for retuning my question and I am sure that as you say no harm can come to using the Nickel Metal-Hydride, but try telling that to Hasselblad USA, the repair tech there that has worked on many Hasselblad D-40 flash units said to me very adamantly that under no circumstances to use the Nickel Metal-Hydride batteries, they clam that the D-40 has a very different circuit and the high current form the NMH batteries will eventually kill the unit.

That was the reason I was asking to see if anybody has a D-40 flash and has used NMH batteries with no ill affect. Again thanks for your input.

    Mike.

  6. Hi, I have the Hasselblad D-40 flash. Is there any members of the forum that

have used the AA Nickel Metal-Hydride in there D-40 flash, the ones that I am

using are rated at 1850mAh. Do you foresee a problem over a period of time?

    Thank you. Mike.

  7. Hi, Jim, About 2 years ago, Mr. Ken Oikawa did some wonderful service on my mint Canon EF Camera, he is the guru of the Canon F series, my last contact number with him was Wk:909-246-9136 H:951-246-9136. Hope this helps.

    Good luck. Mike.

  8. When the AE Power winder FN or AE Motor Drive FN is attached to the Canon F-1n, a choice of shutter-priority AE or Manual exposure is available according to the shooting situation and your personal preference, if you set both at the same time the camera will default to f22, have you check this?

    Regards.Mike.

  9. Hi, I have the Canon EOS 1N RS, as I'm sure you know the Canon EZ

flash series was the recommended unit. I will be going digital soon,

can I use the 550EX or 580EX so as to be compatible for digital

    later on. Thanks. Mike.

  10. Michael & Mark: I have all the Vivitar Series 1 lenses from the mid 80's except the one that I had in question, I've yet to give it a test drive, I'll keep you gentlemen informed on how it turns out, if it is anything as good as the other Series 1's that I have and it's on par with the other Canon FD's that I have which I have many, as you say Mark it performed pretty good compared to your other Canon lenses you have: Thank you for your opinion's and professional answers. Regards. Mike.
