I have a book called "Wedding Blessings: prayers and poems celebrating love, marriage and anniversaries" that I get ideas from. I used this on my first album I designed, but can't remember if it came from the book.

I have an opportunity to visit Bogota in early October and would
appreciate any travel and photo tips/advice for the city. I will just
be there for a few days... what are the must see/photographic spots in
the city?
-
I photographed a wedding at an old meeting house with no center aisle. The flower girl, bridesmaid's and the bride all walked down one aisle. There were no restrictions on where I could be. Most of the time I was either behind the groomsmen (there was a nice platform there) or the bridesmaids. It was great that there was a balcony there!<div></div>

Just a follow up to let everyone know that I sent him an email telling him a commitment came up that I could not reschedule. Thanks for all your advice and confirming my suspicions!

I just googled Uganda scams and came up with this warning from the US Embassy. <a href="http://kampala.usembassy.gov/business_fraud_warning2.html">Uganda Scam Warning</a>

I appreciate all your responses...you all confirmed my gut feeling on this email. As Bruce stated...an honest email from Uganda would be unheard of:) They are getting more and more sophisticated in their scams. We all have to be careful! Thanks again!

I have no idea...I thought that was odd too.

When I first got this email I figured it was a scam, but now I am not
so sure, so I'd like your collective advice on this one.
I received an email from a person in Uganda asking to quote a wedding
photography package for their son who is located near me. I emailed
him back quoting him a package price but then stated that I needed a
signed contract as well as a 50% retainer fee to reserve the date (the
need for a signed contract that has to be mailed to them seems to
deter the scammers I have come across so far). At this point I
figured I wouldn't hear back, but I just got an email from him asking
me to send the contract and that he will send a USPS money order for
the 50% retainer fee. This is not the typical scammer email as his
English is very good and usually they want to give you more money and
forward it on, so I'm not sure what the scam is here if there is one.
How do you think I should proceed? Thanks!

Congratulations! I just got accepted too:) This was my third time applying and I am so excited! I definitely think it is worth it, brides are always referring people to WPJA to look for a photographer.

I love them...great job! My fav is the 6th one. Which one was the digital shot?
-
Dave, your workflow is almost exactly the same as mine! The only difference is I use ACDSee to delete the losers. For some reason C1 was always crashing when I tried to trash files, although that was several versions ago.
-
I love the X-processed...Stuart how did you achieve that effect?
-
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing the process. I was wondering how fast they got back to applicants...and that seems very fast! I have applied twice, the last time about a month ago. I think one of the major factors last time was the problem my website was having in Safari and website quality is one of their criteria. Now that I've fixed that I'm trying to decide if I should apply again or wait until I completely redo my site. Congrats again...well deserved!

Charles...I fixed the Featured Weddings page, but forgot all about the Portrait page...thanks for pointing that out!
-
Aaron...Unfortunately Frontpage is all that I have right now. I am planning to upgrade my site in the future, so thanks for the suggestions on the programs. Is Dreamweaver hard to learn?
-
Jeff...great idea! Frontplague...that's funny! I did take out the image size in the html coding, which seems to work for other browsers, but not Safari. I wonder why? I am going to try your workaround...THANKS!

Safari seems to stretch all my vertical and square images. The large images are placed in a table cell. My first change was to put in a new table cell that was the same size as the horizontal images, but realized that was not going to help with the vertical and square images. So my next change which I just did, was to remove the large image from the table and make it "free float" on the page. Hopefully that will work!

So, anyone willing to help me one more time? If this doesn't work...I give up:( <a href="http://www.jstonephotography.com/wedding.htm">wedding gallery</a>
<br>
<br>
I'm glad like the pics, even though they are distorted. Thanks!

Anne, Thanks for checking with your husband. Yes, I designed it myself (with Microsoft Frontpage) and I do know it should be optimized for all browsers, unfortunately as a PC user with no access to Mac's and since Safari only runs on Mac's it is hard to verify compatibility, except for with helpful people like you:) Next year I am budgeting for a web designer:)
<br>
<br>
It looks like Safari is trying to stretch the image to fit in the table cell, so I have done some tweaking with the page. Now, the horizontal images should not stretch (fingers crossed). I would appreciate another look to see if this is true <a href="http://www.jstonephotography.com/wedding.htm">wedding gallery</a>, and also if the vertical images are stretched at all.
<br>
<br>
Thanks so much for all your help.

Any ideas as to why it is doing that? Thanks for checking:)
-
I use a PC with Windows XP and have tested my website with IE,
Netscape, and Firefox and it seems to work fine. Another
photographer friend who uses Mac said the images on my website were
showing up in Safari all distorted. I went online and checked
compatibility at <a href="http://www.snugtech.com/safaritest/">
Safari Test</a> and it looks fine to me. If anyone who is using
Safari would check my <a
href="http://www.jstonephotography.com/wedding.htm"> Wedding
Gallery</a> and tell me how it looks I would appreciate it. Also if
it does look strange...any ideas on what is wrong?

Pricing is really hard to answer and varies widely...you may find a photographer who will charge less than $1,000 and then a high end photographer with the same package could charge over $10,000. My pricing for a package similar to that would be about $3,000 (I'm in the New England market), and I consider myself mid-range. The CD with the digital images I give clients are color corrected with some minor touch ups. That should be one of the questions you ask the photographer, and also are the images high or low resolution, because that too can vary. An important thing to ask for is references. Talk to their previous clients to make sure they were happy with their services before, during and after the wedding as well as with the final product. Good luck!

Thanks for all the links!
April, It seems like I've looked through the Albums Inc. catalog about a million times but for some reason never saw that proof box...I would never have found it without your suggestion. I also like the nabookarts boxes but they do look expensive.
Gulnara, which Kolo box do you use for proofs? I was the thinking the the middle size one, is that the one you use?
I also like the Container Store box...now I just have to decide which one to use!
-
I am trying to find a nice proof box that you can put a picture on
either the top or the side. After months of searching I finally found
the perfect box when I was flipping through Martha Stewart's Wedding
book (1999), but of course the company does not make them anymore:(
The only 2 that have come close what I am looking for are Archival
Method's boxes or Kolo's boxes. Does anyone have any other ideas?
