i really like this, made my day. the long focal length works very well here, the light is spectacular. the composition is nice and solid: you were there, you got a good shot, no fussing about, i like that. now i want to see your mountains.

edit: the only thing i'm doubtful about is the hdr-like treatment (?), but it's hard to tell at this size. still a good shot anyway

a nice one indeed. colors are nice, and i like how the road leads the eye in the frame. i would try croping from the right side, to move the sobject closer to the right edge, i would also crop some of the top. i would have tried a longer focal length if possible at the time, i think.

    thanks for sharing, have fun

    hi Calvin,

this is a nice idea, but the execution i'm afraid lets it down: the sky is completely blown out (including that patch of blue just visible on the top edge). from a composition point of view, that blue patch doesn't seem useful anyway (so maybe crop it out?). overall, the idea is sound, but i'm afraid the subject matter is too simple (a bit dull, i'm afraid) and the light didn't help either, it seems (i can see some shadows, but everything looks washed out nevertheless, no texture on the grass, etc). sorry for the negative tone, i hope it helps

this is part of the same experiment (hand held, medium shutter speed

to keep some details in the water but get some blur too, single shots,

no exposure blending, so overall the opposite of how i do this

usually). critique and comments very welcome. thank you

hand held (courtesy of shake reduction), zenitar 16/2.8. i usually

shoot this kind of stuff on a tripod, often stacking several

exposures, this was an experiment, shot all day hand held and single

shots only. exif should be intact. did it work out?

    thanks
