  1. I really like the overall effect, and how the light highlights the utensils. But I find that I want to see just a bit more into the shadows. Its possibly just my monitor/gamma settings, but I find it too dark to make out anything in the shadows. Overall, nicely done!

Obviously flipped, but it grabs your attention and keepts it. The ladder work makes an excellent frame and keeps your eyes where it belongs. The colors add to that even more. Very nice job!

I like the angle, colors, background, etc, but without a subject on the pebbles, I find it detracts from an otherwise excellent photo. A small crab, seaweed, or other object would grab my attention. Otherwise, very appealing.

Nicely done! The only thing I can give any critique on is the background. I find that the placement of wings against the inverted U of white light odd. A step to the right would allow frame the wings better. Or better yet, going for a more subtle background would be the best approach. However, I bet you couldn't move the car for better background placement.

I find it a straightforward shot of a simple object. Nothing spectacular, yet still pleasing. Here are some thoughts to improve it.

Soften the overhead light by shooting through white fabric. This will drop out the annoying shadow and clean up the overall shape. I would also play with white and black cards placed appropriately to reflect off the metal which will add shape and additional tonality. You can also try using some colored lights or refelctors to add some additional interest. You have the basic start of a very good photograph with some additional work.

Hope that is what you are looking for.

  2. Nicely done composite. I like the black and white one better than the color version. About the only thing that gives it away as a fake is the sharp harsh shadows on the sun bathers from direct sun(see his legs and feet for example), while the aligators all have soft shadows such as under a overcast sky. I like what the content implies!
