I enjoy the choice of depth of field. The background is clear enough to recognize who they are. At the same time, it isn't distracting to the main subject. Also, the repitition is a good enhancement to the photo.
(I'm enjoying your portfolio of the temple too. The environment is interesting to me since LA is different from the temples here in Utah.)
