very nice - reminiscent of "manipulated nature" art such as Andy Goldsworthy's, but in this case, I guess, natural.

Nice balance and a slightly unearthly feel.

I'm sure there were some great photo opportunities in here somewhere but this is not it. It is an interesting document, but not an interesting composition. I can imagine the circumstances were not so easy though!

for a photo like this to work, it needs to first have correct colour balance, second have a clear subject, and third to decide if it is a deliberate long exposure or not (so to allow motion in the boats).

Nice diagonal composition, fairly early in the morning by the look of it. Maybe a slight right tilt ? I'm a bit puzzled on the location though - If this is Oia, I can't quite see how you got the background (which should be Therasia) in that location! ... I suppose my memory is failing me. But it looks closer to Fira...

This is nice. The double ambiguity of the clipped text and the open hand but hidden figure work very well, and I like the balance. It has a certain mystery about it. Doubtless it has technical flaws but I'm too uneducated to spot them :-)

It's a scary picture. It immediately opens up a lot of questions. Actually I would classify it as Illustration - just that it doesn't have anything to illustrate (yet). It would make a great book cover - who could not fail to pick it up ? On the other hand, since we know it is a dummy, then we have to consider that a very significant part of the work is actually down to the model maker, who was seeking to convey the plight of a prisoner back in the bad old colonial times. Whether or not this work (the dummy)is any good, it has, unless Chris is being extremely conceptual here, effectively just been copied. Somehow I don't feel that there is enough evidence to demonstrate that this is anything other than a fun Photoshop paste-up, rather than a complex commentary on the representation of oh bla bla whatever. Welease Woderwick.

This is almost an "obligatory" Cinque Terre shot, except for two things: 1 most people go horizontal, and 2, not many wait for this light. There is also a very nice sweep in the surf which harmonises with the rock. As for the comment about the sea being too dark, well maybe, but to get it lighter would have required a heavy grad filter on the sky which would have just made it look kitsch. The natural light is better.

Thanks for my first comment, about, oh 30 mins after I uploaded my first photos !
And somewhat insightful too, as I'm really _not_ a people photographer (or indeed much of a people person) and you've managed to explain to me just why I like this scene so much. It somehow conveys turning away from the party... Sad, really :-)

Very nice, almost like a motion blur but natural. Personally I think I would have gone for a stronger grad to try to extract a bit more detail from the rocks in the foreground, but it is a delicate balance. The building on the right is a bit distracting (more than the towers I think) but you were right to get the shot whilst the light was there.
