From where can I download Nikon view 6.2.5?
Do I have to have an older version of Nikon view? I have Nikon view
6.2.1 which I got with my D100 about 3 years ago. Had to remove it
from my hard disk in order to install Picture Project that came with
my new D2X. I have no problem removing the stupid thing from my hard
disk! (Never did I have such a peace of S*&%).
My problem is that I am shooting NEF and want to convert it with PS
7, could do it easily with my D100/Nikon view 6.2.1, but can not with
D2X/Picture Project. From reading in this forum I understand that it
could be done with Nikon View 6.2.5
Thanks,
Mickey

I have the 2200 and I'm happy with it
What (if any) are the advantages of the R 1800 over the 2200?
I know it's a newer model, but it doesn't cost more them the 2200, in
fact it costs less
Thanks,
Mickey

I currently have a D-100 with 3 lenses: 12-24 DX; 24-85 G & 70-200
VR.
I will be getting a D2X. I am shooting mostly landscape so my
primarily concern is image quality.
Now my question: should I replace the 24-85 G with a 17-55/f2.8 DX to
get the highest image quality form the D2X; is there really a
difference (other than price)?

booth, and also were displaying numerous large (20"X24") and bigger
prints. Frankly, they were stunning! This is the best image quality
I've yet seen from a Nikon DSLR, and is superior to what I was
expecting, given the high pixel count and small pixel size of this
new 12.4MP chip from Sony.
Sample images shown at Photokina were not very impressive, according
to those that had a chance to view them. But the prints that I saw at
the show today were knock-outs. The four months since announcement
have been well used by both Nikon and Sony in lowering noise and
improving colour fidelity. Nikon owners finally have a state-of-the-
art high-res DSLR to shout about".

Marc,
Where can you finf 1DsMK2 for $7,500? B&H has it for $7,999.95
-
I must agree with Eric. For $5K I better switch to Canon 1Ds mark 2. Too bad I am so heavily invested in Nikon gear. The D2X is too little (MP and sensor size), too late (the 1Ds mark 2 is already available) and now even too expensive!

Guy, what AF module does the D100 have?
-
Thanks Shun!
I wonder - how come nobody (like Phil Askey, Steve's Digicams, Michael Reichmann - to name a few) runs test/review on the D2X?
Don't these guys get pre-production cameras? (It could be asked about the Canon D1s Mark2 too, but there at least we could have seen some sample images, for what they worth)

Sassan,
I ones had a Nikon N8008 (I shot digital now) and had the same problem with the rewinding. There are two ways to solve it:
1. Go the Nikon and ask them to reprogram the camera so it will not retract the film leader all the way back into the film cassette. That's what I did, there used to be a big Nikon Showroom in NYC next to the Rockefeller center (I think they moved, don't know where to)
2. Buy a small instrument that allows you to pull out the film without having to break the cassette.

Hi,
I did find it, sorry it took that long.
According to the instructions, the teleconverters suitable for the lens are :
TC-201*
TC-14A*
TC-14B
Autofocus Converter TC-16A*
*Slight vignetting may occur
Hope it helps!

I have the same lens, which I also bought around 1991 (if memory serves). I'll try looking for the instructions tonight. I'll let you know.

First of all thanks everybody for your answers, you have been very helpful!
I called San Jose camera and asked for their price for the 70-200 mm VR f/2.8 G lens. They told me that its $1,800 and its the lowest price in the bay area.
Now heres something I dont quite understand why should anybody who lives in that area buy from them, while he can get the same lens from B&H for $ 1,650 (USA) plus $ 21 for shipping (and he also saves the 8.25% sales tax!). Even for me its cheaper to order from B&H and pay for shipping it to Israel.
By the way, they told me that they dont have the 12-24 mm f/4 DX G lens in stock, and they don't expect to get it before January.

Thanks for your help!
Andy - I'm looking to buy two new Nikon lenses: the 12-24 DX and the 70-200 VR G
Shun - have you any knowledge as to how much higher K&S' prices are compared to B&H? I couldn't find any prices in K&S' web site. I can stop at N.Y.C on my way back to Israel, but it's not convenient (also, I think the sales tax in CA is a little bit lower than in N.Y.)

I'm going to be in the San Jose/Palo Alto area, and I want to buy
Nikon lenses.
Can you please recommended good stores in that area?
Thanks!
Mickey
-
Eric-
I live in Israel and the local stores are very expensive.
I have to shop through the net (B&H and the like)

Any news about the availability of the 12-24 DX?
It seems to be "out of stock" for ages now
