Shot slightly under-exposed with a slightly over-exposed off-camera
flash.

hey Kurt
A good effort at something that can be tricky. One possible improvement would be to turn down your flash a little as it's a little to hot and looks flashed. Try dropping your flash exposure down 2/3 to 1 2/3 of a stop for a more natural look.

Nice shot De Von but a little less of the tree far left as it's a little distracting
-
Freeriding is about air, Downhill is about the turns. Races are won
and lost in the turns and Dan Taliana knows it.
-
Does your flash have exposure compensation? If so try dialing it down 1/2-2/3 of a stop. This should reduce the "flashed" look but still give you good exposure.

Nice shot Jonathan. I've shot a few of my sister jumping and she always tells me it's best to get the horse at the peak of the jump with both feet above the rails. I guess then you would know that the horse cleared the jump and didn't knock the rails.

Nice work on the spray but I'd like to see at least a little of the riders face. From experience I know he'd have a huge grin it'd be sweet to see it. Gotta love BC, this brings back memories of Fernie.

Thanks Jim, I just shot with available light as it was coming through some amber perspex and produced a nice warm look. What's more important in Macro shots detail or look?
-
Thanks Edwin. I kind of like the DOF but I get what you mean about sharper on the edges.
-
Borrowed a macro lens from my mum to give macro a try. This is
actually a bump stop off my MTB forks. I just liked the pattern and
the natural light. I'm not sure what makes a good marco shot as it's
never really interested me before.

Ay Simon,
Canada kicks arse ay? This is a pretty good shot, nice composition, nice background, the balance between clouds and mountains is good, but I probabley would have used a little fill-flash to light your wife an bring her out in the shot.
-
Steven,
I think cropping out the section you mentioned would take away from the ramp detail and not show the viewer wher he came from. While I understand where your're coming from I think that the ramp in the bottom corner is needed.

It's just a little Canon S45 so it probably got small camera syndrome

I really appreciate people checking out my work but to give low ratings, like 2s, and not comment on why defeats the entire purpose. I don't post my work for praise I post it in the hope people will help me improve. So if you are going to give a low rating and not post a comment why, don't bother.

You can really have fun with compact digitals.
-
Thanks mate, the hardest part was maintaining detail in the wall on the left side of the steps. I ended up bracketing 1 stop either side of 3 different exposures.
-
I know the title is pretty lame but I couldn't think of anything
else. This one shot doesn't do justice to how spectactular the whole
forrest looked when I took this.

This was originally a colour slide that was made B+W in PS7
-
Thanks for your ideas Robert but that was the whole idea. Tengu is mysterious which is why I pumped up the shadow to only reveil partial details.

Originally shot on Provia 100F and made B+W in PS7

This would have been really sick if the tube in front of him was open instead of closing down. It would given a feeling of him being able to make the barrel. As it is now it says "shutdown, better luck next time".

As the subject isn't dark enough for a nice sillouete here maybe a little fill-flash would have been the answer.
