  1. Paul,

Have you tried Breezebrowser? I use it for both G5 and 10D raw images and like it. Seems speedy enough on my 2gig laptop, certainly faster than Photoshop CS (I only have Photoshop 6 but tried the eval version of CS). Breezebrowser has batch processing and a good interface for saving jpegs, proofs, etc. It doesn't support exposure compensation for the G5, though. Apparently the Canon software API that Breezebrowser uses doesn't provide exposure compensation for the G5. Photoshop CS raw does provide this, though, so maybe CS uses a completely different library for raw conversion.

  2. Hello,

I'll be traveling to RMNP in a few weeks and I have to say I really

haven't done much research on what there is to photograph there. As

usual, I was planning on going with the flow once I got there. But I

usually have regrets later about missing stuff. Does anyone have

recommendations for must sees/photo opportunities. I know there are

elk in the park; what are the best times/places to see them?

This isn't a photography vacation; I'm traveling with family and

friends and just hoping to have a bit of time to get some photos.

  3. Some experimenting is usually necessary, and also the effects you want to achieve (lots of bursts in a single frame, background lighting, etc.) A good place to start is with an f stop between 16 and 22, and shutter between 2 and 10 seconds. Mirror lockup is also important.
  4. It's an overlooked gem. I've had one for a year and it has performed flawlessly. It's lightweight, fast focusing and very sharp. If you're the kind of person who tends to use the 2 ends of a zoom the most, this is the lens for you.
  5. Rick,

Just my opinion, of course, but I would go with the ftb for sure. I have had one for quite a while, which I used to use with a 28/2.8 for street scenes and landscapes (I now shoot digital). It's a rugged, simple, reliable camera that is a joy to use. I think with practice, especially for focusing and estimating exposure you can get shots with the ftb as fast as with the T70. The only drawback for the ftb is the battery, but I've used hearing aid batteries with good success in mine.
