If they where good parents buy them something newer than that. If they where bad give them that one.
If you really feel attached and must get some money for your old stuff, then put it up for auction on the "Bay." You would be surprised how much you get for it. Last year I sold my 1 year old, well used Canon A60 for $10 less than what I paid for a brand new A60 on Newegg.com. And yes, I did start my auction out at .99 cents.

My wife gave me a D70 as my X-Mas gift (WOW!!!). But I was taken aback
by the fact that she also purchased an "extended" waranty for the
camera. She purchased it at ritzcamera.com for $189.00. I asked her
why and she said that she was lead to believe that this would cover
the camera for 3 years or more. So when I went online and looked it up
it is only for the first year of the cameras life. I told her that
the camera was under warranty during that period of time, and she got
really p!ssed-off.
I do not know exactly what transpired between her and the salesperson
that helped her, but I can't believe that Ritz is even engaging in a
practice like this.

I am in the middle of buying my first DSLR. I am not a Canon or Nikon
guy at all, as a matter of fact my film camera is a Minolta 9xi
(which I love), and my digital is a the Canon a60 (p&s). I love
taking pictures of everything: sport, nature, portraits, blah, blah.
As I read the review for these cameras they both seem impressive. I
don't need the biggest or the baddest. Just something that gives me
the control that the 9xi gives me in digital. I have looked at the
higher end digital p&s cameras and I am not at all convinced that one
lens would do it for me. I have my cheapy A60 for that.
Am I comparing apples to oranges here? Should I be comparing the
digital rebel to the d70? I jsut can't get over the cheap looking
cover on them. Again, I have my cheapy A60 for that.
I would appreciate your any input any of you may have for me on this
subject.
Thanks...

I have jsut recently gotten back into photography and aquired a
Minolta 9xi. I am still working to learn all of the controls on it.
The other day I realized that this camera had a data back, but when I
looked in the manual there was no mention of it. So I have figured out
how to set the time and date but nothing else. I have burned about 20
rolls of filn on this camera but none have had the date or any aother
kind of data on them. Could anyone with this type of camera enlighten
me on what it does and doesn't do.
Thanks..

How often do you use the movie mode?

When I used my Canon powershot a60, I used it all the time. Now that I have a Nikon d70, I miss it alot. But I dont like to carry both cameras with me so I no longer have clips. I once bought a dv camcorder with camera capabilites, but soon realised that it really sucked. So I returned it and bought the canon pawershot a60 and was very happy. It is very hard to for an adult with ADHD to carry a video camera shooting the whole time. But with a camera it is nice to be able to capture a small clip of something that gets your attention.
If someone comes out with a DSLR with movie capabilities, I will definately buy it. Or is there one out there already? :)
