Mark, I'm sorry if this was taking anything away from your precious time - but your thoughtful comments are always appreciated.

Skeeter, yes I just noticed :)

Interesting - and different takes on cropping.

Not the most interesting photo in the world but when I had scanned it I realized
I felt like cropping it and tried a number of versions.
Would be interested in seeing other take on what they would do as it's always
interesting to learn different ways of 'seeing' and this may be an ok image to
try it out on.

I think I'll start with correctly exposed and somewhat sharp photos :)

Thanks for the encouraging comments.
I was using Kodak HSI film.

Someone mentioned the IR focusing mark on the Elmar - could someone explain a bit about how to use it when focusing?
Thanks!

I tried out using IR film for the first time a few weeks ago - in my Leica III
(F).
Put an old, dark-red filter on an equally old Elmar 50/3.5 and I was off to the
races. I thought..

After having loaded (and cutting) the film in a dark restroom in a cafe up
in Northern California I realized I had to guesstimate the exposure as the film
isn't really ISO rated. On top of that I *cough-cough* forgot to fully extend
the Elmar and realized that the shutter was dragging a bit..and I may have a
light leak. Life was good.

It was fun and different in that I looked for scenes that I normally wouldn't
when shooting regular B&W film but the result...well, here are some for you to
'enjoy':

Tony,
to quote Philip: "One general rule is "if the product was discontinued more than 15 years ago, stop talking about it." ( Link ).

Since this is now a general rule are we discouraged/not allowed to post anything pertaining to for instance the older Leica LTM cameras?

Thanks, got hold of the two page manual and did a short write-up here: ELDIA.
Would be interested in a) tips for film to use and b) other people's experience with this gadget.

I ended up getting a Leitz ELDIA copier pretty much for free when buying a BELUN
copy setup and I can't seem to find any instructions on-line.
Does anyone know how to use this and/or have the original instruction manual?

Visited another old camera store (International Camera, Oakland, CA) a month ago
and snapped some photos of it using an Olympus 35SP and Kodak Tri-X 400.

I did a short write-up of the place, and some more photos, <a

It was amazing to see all these cameras in boxes, on shelves or simply hanging
off the walls.

A watermelon has 99% water in it, which is the same as a human's water content.

Would be funny if that was true - but the average adult, human body is about 50-60% water. Not 99%.

Thanks for the various takes on the photo.
It triggered a question I had about cropping and if there is a line to cross when cropping is not 'acceptable' in some area (editorial vs personal appreciation of an image) - where that line is and who draws it.
I placed my rambling here - LINK - and just wanted to say thanks for the thought and the cropping versions.
