On the first "official" day of the ski area opening.
I'm getting to know the panorama stitch feature of Photoshop, and am
surprised at how natural the results look.

Josh, congratulations for getting some new stuff out! I like it. Check out my photo.net portfolio if you get a chance.

Such a sharp foreground! Well done.
-
I like the moon, but somehow there should be more going on in this photo. Maybe more striking side-lighting?
-
This is very similar to a lot of the more abstract stuff I like to do. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it feels too static. While I like the idea, this feels a bit too static.
-
I really like the limited depth in this. Focuses on the more interesting elements.
-
Cool photo that suffers from the lack of DOF in the foreground.
-
Crisp!

Fantastic colors!
-
A little soft. Interesting "Mona Lisa" expression.

Brooks,
Thanks for the email!
In the uncropped version of the photo you just posted, the balloon actually looks just right. I wonder if it's an optical illusion stemming from the balloon now being in the middle rather than the edge of the picture?
If you get a second, check out my stuff. I'd like to know what you think.

The balloon seems too bright somehow...

Good idea that could work better reshot. Sharpness seems lacking a little and the lighting outside the bridge is kind of flat. Also, the mud puddles don't really make for a compelling subject ;-)
-
Nice picture of the Pontevecchio that would benefit from better lighting and a more interesting sky.
-
I especially like the bird! The horizon would benefit from being squared up though.
-
Oof! Great juxtaposition of nature and manmade objects!
-
Interesting subject and angle. The light could be more interesting though.
-
Very interesting personalities!
-
The wall seems a touch bright, and there is a "looking up" angle to it which is disconcerting.
Otherwise, wow! What an amazing sky, tonality and subject!
-
Interesting use of flash. I can't figure out if I like it or not. Maybe what I'm looking for would be accomplished by using some sort of warming gel over the flash head...

See comment to Window #1...

Windows #1 and #2 would work really well as a diptych (sp?) but aren't really all that interesting on their own. I like the colors, but once again I'm not crazy about the flat lighting.

Thank you, Rashed. I'ld be concerned about taking a film pano camera like a Noblex up there, both because it's ski-only, and because it was very, very cold. I would be concerned that the cold would foul the mechanism which turns the lens.
In the summertime, I think you could get a similar result.
