I use the padded cells from Outdoor Research. http://www.orgear.com/(click the Backpacking/Camping link). The red #1 is good for one lens on a 4x4 board with accessories (it is also nice for a Rolleiflex), and the Yelow #3 holds my 90 6.8 Caltar, 210 Sironar-N and B+W polarizer nicely. I also use the blue #4 for film holders. They all have a mesh pocket for various doo-dads (in Joel's case his cam).

It sounds like a Pacemaker to me, JD.

I shoot a couple sheets of Velvia (at ei 40). If it knocks my socks off, I'm happy.

Years (okay, decades) ago, I pulled off a portrait with a 4x5 graphic. She was sitting on the ground, as i was. Propped the graphic on my knee, popped open the hood, focused way too close (very tight head shot)and squeezed it off from the body release. I don't remember the shutter speed, but until this day i remember hearing the gear train in the shutter running.....and running. It was a successful shot.
It all depends.

Nice photo, Ralph.

It's the only film I've shot for the past few years. The reviews on
the 100F are decidedly mixed. I would love more forgiving reciprocity
properties, but i'm thinking I should probably hang with RVP. Should
I be worried about Fuji dropping it?

The New York Times Crossword.
Sam, that's a very nice photograph. Ken, I used to be an N-Scaler.

I keep mine in little green film boxes.

Ernie,
I shot a wedding on ISO 200 (whatever the kodak stuff at the time was) print film. Unfortunately my ever trusty Sekonic was set on ISO 40 for Velvia. I haven't forgotten that since.

Hi Patric,
I used to have one of these lenses. It was okay for black and white, but on chromes mine had an awful green color cast. Coverage wasn't much to write home about, either. Wallensak (sp?) appearently had quality control problems, so different examples of the same design will vary greatly. I paid $100 for mine and still think that's about the right price for one.

I, for one, don't think there is too much content on the board. I get up in the morning, read it, come home at night, and read it. I was turned on to artars here. If it wasn't for this board, I wouldn't now own one of these seriously wonderful lenses. The information available to us here is truly astounding (and i got my first 4x5 graphic at the ripe old age of sixteen.....thirty years have passed since then).
Do I mind repetative questions? Not really, someone will nudge the asker in the right direction. Do I mind (more or less) off topic questions? Not really (we are among friends). Do I generally appreciate the sence of humor here? (may I take the fifth?) Would someone please tell me how to edit my account so my last name doesn't appear twice? :)
I generally tend to lean toward the more open exchange of ideas. I prefer to see more questions posted here than fewer. Just my two cents.

When posting to photo.net, your last name will appear twice, and you will always split infinitives.

One day, the black side of darkslide exposed, white side unexposed will strike you as absurdly counter-intutative. You will vow to begin doing it "right", convention be damned.
You will, therefore, *never* know which film has been exposed, and which has not.

I have a 4x5 Wisner tech. It's a very capable, though somewhat heavy, camera. Ron Wisner has gotten some very bad press here, so I would expect comments to that effect.
You will want a bag bellows with the 90, and Caltar doesn't narrow it down much, but that taken into consideration, the deal sounds like a good one to me.

I would second Christian's advice. While I haven't put an 8x10 (yet) on my J-100, it is *very* sturdy, and the leg locking has to be used to appreciated. IMO a Ries without that feature isn't a Ries.

Jackson, MS. Once each year in the fall I head towards Anne's corner of the world to photograph the Sipsey National Wilderness, and get rained out every time. :-(
