  1. Hi Elis and thank you for your answer I relay a lot on what you say since you know the market very well. I wanted to mention that I did not have any Canon or Nikon lenses or speedlights I just try to switch to SLR (I am tired of not being able to control my auto camera). I am a dedicated Nikon person and truly would have preferred to see a Nikon D 10 instead of a Canon 10 D but honetly business is business and Canon seems to be above them or a step ahead of them. I also agree with the above posting - that Canon will eventually sink Nikon at least in this market. Nikon seems to deviate from photography to lenses and microscopes etc more industrial type of things. We probably don't bring them enough $$$. Besides Nikon lenses are also more expensive than Canon's.
  2. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether Nikon D 100 price will

shrink since Canon is literally blowing them off the water with the

Canon D 10 at the unbelievable price of US $ 1,499 ? It is already

bad enough that Nikon came with almost nothing serious (aside their

lenses) to the PMA show this year. I agree Nikon D 100 is a fine

camera and I would prefer to get it over Canon D 10 but the latter

has same qualities if not better than Canon D 60 and heck it is so

affordable. Anyways any input is much appreciated. Thank you

  3. The new ball head Bogen Manfrotto Digi 719B is impressive. Not too

heavy 3.74 lbs, can support up to 8.8 lbs and is surprisingly tall

64 1/4 inches. It also folds to less than 20 inches. The price is

good too (B&H 99 dollars - NY customers I guess will add 8 bucks for

tax). It is sturdy and is perfect for these enthusiasts that don't

want to spend too much and buy more than one tripod since this one

seems to be a all in one. Of course pros will argue tha they want a

quick release but this can be added later. Although I have to

recognize it is not easy and quick to mount but the quality of

Manfrotto is worth this little effort. I am happy with it so far.

  4. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO REPLIED. The store is obviously a scam and Sorin was right they atract you with a good price and then once in the net the nightmare begins. On the phone they were pretty rude and they refused to reply my e-mails thankfully I have listened to all of you and I refused to give my credit card number when I ordered telling them that I will send a fax with the number. I was close to be in trouble but folks from photo.net helped me to see beyond a good price. I guess I will keep dreaming about Nikon D100 until it drops to 1600 or so.
  5. I think Nikon Capture is useless unless you want to use the pc as a "remote control" to operate your camera. Photoshop is the most complete and "as pro" as one could dream. Unless you are working in a photo lab photoshop 7.0 should be plenty enough for your work. For the price of the D100 Nikon should have included the Capture as a free program - just like Canon incluudes Photoshop for free.
