iso 200, f5, 1250th sec, 600mm, VR, D800E, 50% cropRidgefield National Wildlife Refuge, WA StateThis is a better shot than the one with the fish. It was closer to the camera. At Ridgefield there is a 4 mile drive around the refuge and this time of year you cannot get out of your vehicle. The birds seem accustomed to the car and it is a good blind.

iso 800, 1600th sec, f6.3, 600mm plus 1.4X, no VR, minimal manipulation, 50% crop. Yes, it appears oversharpened but this is a 200kb file...

  19. iso 800, 1000th sec, f6.3, 600mm plus 1.4X, 60% crop, Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, Washington State. One of very few shots where access was not blocked by a lot of Alder branches. (See other image in folder taken same day.) Minimal branch cloning.
  20. Iso 1600, 640th second, f7.1, 600mm plus 1.4X, VR off, 50% crop. These 2 month old Great Horned Owls are in Alder thickets in Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. Unfortunately, there are more branches than I would like (did some cloning) but this is for their protection. They are fun to watch.
