This shot is nice and tells a story. However, I'd try to keep the "whole" mother in the frame. Some kids are below the wing, can you take some shots from other directions?

The color tone is working with the facial expression of your dog. Nice shot.

The other distracting thing is the shallow DOF under the flowers, I know it was almost impossible to do that but you probably could move around the subject to find a more 2 dimensional view.
