  1. thanks for your response steve. The 300d is great camera but its autofocusing in low light conditions such as chapels can be slow. I heard that the 10d and 20d offer quicker focusing and less noise on high iso especially the 20d. the prices are from www.7dayshop.com have got stuff from them before with no problems
  2. ok so. I currently have a 300d and have been doing a few weddings

with it and the the clients and i have been happy with the results.

I'm thinking now about changing to 10d or 20d. I can get new 10d for

?699 or a new 20d for ?959 is the difference in price worth it and

    the extra 2mp worth it.

  3. Hi people i have a 550ex speedlite along with my 300d and am

considering buying either another flash either a 420ex or 550ex to

use off camera as a flash to light up my backgrounds when i do

portraits. My question is would the 420 be adequate for this job as

it is a bit cheaper than the 550ex and it wont be mt main flash.

    Opinions greatly appreciated thank.

  4. Was experimenting with lighting set up for my 300d and 550 ex just

bought a softbox for the 550 ex which gives a nice lighting effect

but was messing around with bounce flash and tried this very simple

idea. Proabably been done before and there probably is professional

equipment for this purpose but just wanted to pass on a cheap

effecitve way of doing this. I glued a piece of premium photo gloss

to a piece of a4 card (got this out of the gloss paper packet) stuck

a piece of velcro to the paper and the flash and hey presto gives a

great even lighting effect cheap, simple and effective

  5. Hi people just wanted to let you know i'm just back from doing a

portrait session with three kids. God talk about hard work, ages

were 1 1/2, 4 and 6. Tryng to get them into position was some

fun, guess the old addage of hardest pics being weddings and children

is true but have to say it was great fun working with them. So i

guess my point is just do it, it can be a fun rewarding experince

    Shoot on :)

  6. Hi again people hope you all aren't getting sick of me asking

questions but I find this is the best source of information for what

    I am looking for.

My question is that I orginally asked advice on sigma and tamron

lenses. After looking about I have spotted a new possible

combination and am looking for peoples advice. I have a eos 300d and

am shooting some weddings. Now i know the lenses i have are not up

to scratch and will shortly be buying new ones.

The combinations i have spotted are either a canon EF 24-70mm F2.8L

    USM or a tokina 28-80mm f/2.8 AT-X PRO and a tokina 20-35mm f/2.8

AT-X PRO for less than the canon and have a wider range of angle

taking into consideration the 1.6 factor what do u think. Apparently

the Tokina is better than the sigma or tamron choices i was

previously thinking about. I havent heard to much about tokina so i

am relying on your for some info thanks!

  7. I am buying a new lens for my canon 300d. Its looks as if i can only

afford a choice of 3 different ones

    Sigma 24 - 70 mm 2.8

    sigma 24 - 135 mm 2.8

    tamron 28 - 75 mm 2.8

the middle one has the greater scope for me as i will b using it to

do weddings( b4 anyone starts i have done weddings allready with

this camera and the clients have been very happy with the results)

My question is has anyone experience of these lens and if so which

    would they recomend to use

  8. Levi i also was in the same predicament as you were. A couple who were good friends of mine asked me to do there wedding. I would consider myself an amateur and up until that point had only been interested in landscape photography. I was nervous as hell and thought about advising them to go to a pro but the other side of it was they decided to have the wedding very quickly and so probably couldnt get one available. So i took the plunge and enjoyed every minute of it, the pictures came out great and now i have more bookings as a result of the pictures been seen by other people in these peoples famlies and circle of friends . So my advice is just do it. I have to say though i did do a lot of research first of all and found this site and its members extremely informative, helpful and supportive which was cool.
