Here it is

I like this composition a lot. I think the colors, shapes, and the lines are perfect. It might be jpeg artificts, and I realize you're working with relatively low MP camera, but the blocking degrade the picture a lot. Excellent eye though.

Thanks for the continuing comments. This afternoon when I get home, I'll post another picture of this same waterfall taken from down by the waters' edge-- a little different perspective, but very similar to this framing (you can see it in my nature folder, but the original image is at home so I can't post it here yet). While I like that image, I much prefer this one because of the leaves. I like the complexity that they add, and the kind of odd framing. I remember being almost startled by a Sam Abell photograph where a tree cut right across the image and made for an interesting framing. I could have moved right a bit and put the bright leaves to the left of the waterfall, but it would have losts its feeling of depth. I think it would have also destroyed the interweaving of the elements. More comments are welcome! Thanks agin

Thanks for the perspective. I think I like the green leaves where they are as it adds a sense of place and depth to the photograph, although I understand about wanting to see all of the waterfall.

Uh . . that's kind of the point.

I submitted this same photo for critique, but this is a larger
version to make viewing easier. What do you think?

In my "nature" folder I have a cropped version of this photo that
crops out the right portion of the image, making a vertical image
focusing on the leaves and rocks without as much water. I'd
appreciate comments on whether you like this version or the cropped
version better, if anyone has time to take a look. Thanks.

I like the composition, but the background blocking is distracting.

I think I like the vertical one better. This one feels sort of like one of those tilt houses at a carnival, where you can't quite get your balance. If the left side looked as curved in as the right it might work. But I do like the vertical one, I think it's a nice effect.

Needs more contrast?

Thanks! The more natural pose is for the neck to be settled back into the shoulders. But I like that I caught him (or her, still learning my bird IDs) like this.

Thanks for the comment. I like this photo a lot but I don't like the dark band across the top. I suppose I could photoshop some red in there but I've never bothered. It just looks unbalanced to me. But the insect is nice I think, and I do like the colors.

Thanks! I like it too. I thought it was eye-catching the way patterns on the log intersected with the mushrooms. I like these sorts of patters/abstracts in nature.
