Maybe it's just having your name so straight on this that throws me off. I love the image but it makes me lean a little to my left. Her leg/foot also seems a bit huge coming at me and the color of it, matching the dress further emphasizes the size of the lovely foot.

  1. I really love the lighting you managed. The DOF is real interesting as well. The frontal blur may seem distracting to some but to me, it helped draw me into the photograph.

I'm sure you can find some advertising person eager to use this

  2. I like the whole series and to know it was done by a couple slide projectors makes it even better. I wondered if you double exposed but it sounds like it was all one shot with multiple projector. Must have taken time to get the model just right
  3. I was lucky enough to visit about 8 years ago from the States, but did not brave the hike and instead went to the castle. This is just an outstanding view, now I wish I'd taken the time. I hope I have another chance, your photo has inspired me!

though I'm not a fan of real grainy photos, this seems to work. The background's grain and those of the model match well. I also like the off and on lighting. The contrasts work well. I'd prefer a less soft focus and let the grain do the work for you.

I was struck by the contrast of the light on her face vs that on the flute. Even her face at the top appears as if it should reflect more. Great job of sharpening the light where is was needed, yet keeping the face soft.

Looks like you worked too hard on this one. I looked at your other photos of women and liked all the rest better. Lighting is fine, focus is fine, I guess it's the pose that I find as not very flattering to the model. Ya have all that black going on the right side, her arm looks uncomfortable, the bow in the back leg. Your other ones are great, this one's ok.

I was nicely engaged by the light bars in her glasses and the match with the straps on the t-shirt top. Be good to see some other model positions with the same design.

    thanks

Lighting and style looks a lot like something out of 1960's editions of Life or Look magazines. Can't go wrong with those two.

DOF study? In using both images as a show piece, I'd like to see a deeper connection between the two. Yes, they're playing instruments but even his expression draws me to the photographer, not to the other instrument.

The black lights (I think that's what they are) take away from your image but I don't have a good suggestion except to PS them out or dodge them so their shade matches closer to the sky around them
  4. yep it's hard to shoot indoor motion sometimes. The people are blurred by the motion. I feel you need to get them stopped or take a longer exposure and let the blur more. They take away from the architecture as they are.
  5. I agree, though I had to look at it a while, that the shadow should be cropped out. After playing with it a while I like the shot better cropping a little right and making the final product a wide image instead of tall. The right crop to keep the pile in the right third of the frame. See what you think.

I might have curved the pipeline so that it enhance the womans curve and draw us down the path our eyes should follow., A newer pipe w/o kinks would further the curve. "dress" might also be nicer if it wrapped the leg and came out under in the same area as you have it.

Did you shoot this through glass? The image doesn't seem sharp. It also looks like the negative needed to be cleaned, the white specks distrack from the quality of the image
  6. Fun shot!

would be nice to see some motion

it surely indicates there is some but a little blur in the cymbols or hair might have made it better. Pretty good shot getting this all still with the low stage lighting. You must have a great camera and a fast trigger finger.
