I have had the M8 for about 2 months now and it has been working great with a
nimber of my lenses (Noctilux, 40 Summicron, 35 Nokton, 28 Ultron, and CV 15). I
have a portrait shoot coming up and thought I would test the 90 Summicron
beforehand. It focuses perfectly at f2 at minimum distance (.7 meter) but if I
get beyond 4.5 feet of the subject it starts to back focus (I have to focus
closer than indicated by the rangefinder to achieve critical focus). This makes
using the lens a major headache. As I said before I have no focusing problems
with my other lenses including the Noctilux at f1. I am assuming I will have to
get the lens adjusted.
Does anyone have experience with DAG fixing this problem or perhaps another option?

Thanks Jonathan... just got the M8 and have been excited about using my leica glass again. I'm still struggling with the tighter framelines (the 50 lines are very claustrophobic). Here's another shot...

Marc, beautiful photo. What film scanner do you use?

Thanks for the responses... There seems to be some confusion over which bracket I am refering to since Stroboframe uses the word flip in many of their products. Here is the one and only Stroboflip. My main concern is user friendliness so any user's feedback is appreciated.

I am considering using the Stroboflip for a small Nikon SLR. Anyone
use one out there?? (I use larger Stroboframes for other cameras).
thanks.

I love the small size of the Stroboflip but nobody has one in my town
for me to try out. Please let me know if the Stroboflip works well
with the N75 ergonomically (ie can you use a typical 28-105 2.8-4
zoom easily with this bracket?) thanks, Jim

As far as size/compatibility I recommend the SF 20 or SF 24 flashes. They are lightweight and powerful for such a small package (get Lutz's S'fill for it and you've got a wonderful soft light as well). The only hitch is that you have to push in the + and - buttons simultaneously to activate the flash (it goes on sleep mode and the Hexar doesn't know how to wake it up).

Marc, it is the nature of this beast, photography. We always think of the many ways to approach any single shot and the route not travelled will always hold an allure. With the hi-tech metering systems with 30,000 lighting scenarios built-in to answer questions you never asked within nanoseconds, it gets easy to let the camera do the thinking and rely on eternal fill flash. The fun part is fighting it, don't you think?

Great eyes in all these pics!! Peter A, love that perspective. Reina, what an angel. Tom, I like the promising glow in the bar glasses and Patrick, I know I'm crazy but I like using the HRF w/nocti because it is easy for me to frame the shot and the focus patch is bright.
Technical stuff: film - Fuji NPH, processed and scanned at a local Sam's Club (Fuji Frontier Machine) so I was working with a compressed jpeg image to start with which ultimately accentuates the grain especially after using the curves tool.

Patrick, thanks. I just bought the hexar from a forum member and after an adjustment to the vertical alignment, I am using all my lenses on it as a test... so far I am impressed with the viewfinder (I like the extra space around the 28 framelines too) and the camera in general.

Beautiful shot Al. Love the blurred foot, it makes everything else crispier.

Babar, the lighting was a table lamp with shade (60 Watt bulb) which was to my right and some ambient light in the room behind her. James, unfortunately I had to use both of my hands to light the match for her cigarette so there is no photo of that moment, but get to work on that screenplay.
Dominic, you have hit the nail on the head, and ironically it is the smokey softness that is the focus of this photograph. Cheers.
